VINTAGE THINGIE THURSDAY

Today I'm participating in Vintage Thingie Thursday, hosted by Confessions of an Apron Queen. Check out the other vintage thingies at her site, and join us by sharing something of your own.

My grandfather gave my grandmother this Bulova watch when my father was born in 1920. She wore it all the time until she died in 1974.

The band isn't the original. It was replaced with a Spiedel stretch band from the 60's. I had to take it off the watch to get a decent picture without all the glare. I love this watch. It still runs, but the stem came off, so I have to get it replaced and perhaps cleaned.

A friend sent me this picture...I think its a riot. This could never happen in my tub...EVER!

That is truly a beautiful watch and deserves an equally beautiful band.

And regarding that picture, if it were me in that tub, the man would be moving the opposite direction getting ready to do a back flip and my leg would still be raised after kicking him out.

Sorry, did I just say that? I'm not a man hater or anything, I promise. I just come from an entire family of them, and it's rubbed off.

Very nice watch...love vintage thingy thursday. Oh, I really love that picture...there is nothing quite like a naked man doing a cannonball in a jacuzzi to get things "hot." Oh yeah...

I see what's happening....

they are out at the pool, floating on their "noodles"....Grandma J starts acting coy, and before you know it, BADA-BING! they are back at her place, doing "private aerobics"

Way to go Grandma J!

The watch is sooooo cool! I had one that my dad bought his mother with his first pay check...unfortunatley it was stolen from my dresser when our apartment was shown to prospective renters. I was crushed! I hope you get it fixed and wear it!

The watch is beautiful! I hope you can get a band for it. The jumping man reminds me of my jumping son : ).

BTW, I happen to have a vintage watch. It was my grandmothers, given to her by my grandfather, when my father was born.

Thankfully, she passed it on to me before she died....to ensure that "others" wouldnt take all her things and keep them from her kin (which they did once she died.)

The photo reminds me of looking at a friend's honeymoon photos from the Poconos. The picture showed a room with a champagne glass shaped hot tub...see through. You could clearly view the husband's privates through the glass...ewww. I had no appetite after tthat!

I let out a laugh out loud when I saw the cannonball with a naked butt! My kids came over to see what I was laughing at & laughed themselves silly too! Thanks for the laugh.

I also love the watch. How beautiful. What a wonderful family treasure.
