Scheduling Missteps

Grandma J went to California recently, but you knew that.  She has so much to tell you about her activities and non-activities while she was there.

The last time Grandma J went to California she got sick and avoided contact with old friends and co-workers.

This time, because she was scheduled as primary caretaker of her three grandchildren, she waited to contact anyone until she knew when she would have free time.

There were swimming, dance, and drum lessons.  Plus driving the kids to school and picking them up every day.   In between there were basketball practices and games, Cub Scouts and Indian Princess stuff.

Once Grandma J had everything mapped out she realized she had a window of opportunity just two days away!   She called her friend who used to be her boss....but she lost that title when she retired.

This is NOT a picture of Grandma J's friend.   It's a picture of her friend's cat, Sally.   Grandma J would show you a picture of her friend but she can't because her friend has a very famous brother who might get jealous if his sister's picture is plastered all over the internet.  Like Grandma J's blog is "all over the internet".

Anyway, Grandma J's friend had a dental appointment with a new dentist that afternoon and she was scared to death  wanted to get there on time.  Her friend wanted Grandma J to extend her time in CA so they could get together and go to the casinos catch up on old times, like talk about their pets.

Unfortunately that wasn't possible because Grandma J flew out using frequent flyer miles and you can't change those flights.  The next time Grandma J drives to CA she will make sure she spends time with her friend.

Now, Grandma J hasn't heard how the new dentist visit went, so as usual she used her imagination rather than ask her friend.

But really, does this sign just not seem right?

And, does this guy seem just a tad bit too happy?  Could it be he doesn't take his job seriously?

Grandma J wonders because when she goes to the dentist here  in Texas it's all stressful business, no fun.

On a scale of 1-10 how much fun is your dentist?

Your friend was wise not to cancel. A good dentist is harder to find than a good friend. They charge more too.

My Dentist is SO nice Grandma J! I actually can't wait to see him! His name is Dr. Parks! He is the most wonderful dentist I have ever had. I also love my family Dr. You couldn't find such a wonderful Dr. anywhere else in the land. He took care of me since I was in 3rd grade : ). When I was in 5th grade I went in to see him one day and I said "I hate myself because I am the fattest girl in my class." And he said "I think you are beautiful." And I believed him. I still knew I was fat : ) but I thought I was beautiful too! Fat and beautiful : )

Doc Sawbones? Yikes.
That first sign is priceless!!
My dentist office is great. I have been going there for 12 years, they know me. I still can't convince them to add in pedicures during my cleaning though...My Dentist is pretty rich from my visits. He named his plane and his boat (yacht) after me. nice huh?

I'm one of those people who is terrified of dentists and would rather have a baby natural childbirth than see a dentist. And the sign, I'd say he did a little more than teeth!

I really like my dentist, but he is 250 miles away. We go to see him 2x a year, and are always early. He is so good to us. If we need more work done (which I don't like!!!!) he will skip his lunch and take care of it. I'd give him an 8, but only because he is a dentist!

We usually go out for lunch too!

On any given day, you and Busy Bee Suz have me CRACKIN' UP!!! I love that sign. The X-rated dentist, ha ha ha!

I want to let you know that my sister and I laughed and laughed at your donuts post. Those cartoons and caricatures are priceless. Thanks for sharing with all of the Internet.

My sister will one day be my dentist, but for now, I'd give my dentist a 6 for fun. He always has great Blues music playing.

Thanks for making me laugh with this post, Grandma J. Your dentist in Texas looks like more fun than mine. My dentist is actually very nice and does a great job, but he never wears a cowboy hat or has a horse peeking in to check on things. I'd probably have to give him a 4 or 5 on the fun scale. ;)

My dentist is great--I use to work for him, so naturally that's the case.
Anyway he give us a 20% discount even seven years since I left. He's into horses, so I will have to tell him how to liven up his office. ha!

Such a cute post. I am the poster child for root canals at my dentist office!!!!! Seriously, I've had a few over the years, and he and his staff are the nicest. I hope you get the chance to catch up with your friend next time. Looking forward to hearing/seeing more of your visit with the grands.

I am the biggest baby there is with dentistry. But I love my dentist because he will give me a valium prescription when I need a filling. He knows what a baby I am.

I need a valium for a cleaning, because my dentist is as much fun as wearing propane-soaked britches in hell.

That said, the dentist that provides stomachtology services that Grandma J. has pictured sounds interesting. Is that the new term for it these days?

Ok, this is Grandma J's friend/old boss and though a dentist appointment is a pretty lame reason not to see one of the best (only) friends she has left, dentists are very important to me. This one kept me waiting quite a while but ended up telling me I take too good care of my teeth and maybe should cut down on the visits. He also tried to charge me 3 times what he should have for a new bite guard. If I had it to do over I'd eat a really fattening lunch with my funny friend.

My dentist is absolutely NO Fun, whatsoever. However he is all about no pain either, so I give him a 9.

That sign made me think dirty things before you even mentioned it. :)
My dentist is fine...I still don't like going, but they always make me very comfortable and are very nice. Fun? Not so much, but nice.
BTW, is your blog still snowing or is it still my eyes?

I love my dentist! He is the right mix of fun and business. Plus he is a really great guy. In his spare time, he travels to poor areas and gives free dental treatment.

Fun? You forgot the negative numbers on that scale.

My head is filled with wicked puns when I see that sign. I am keeping my thoughts to myself.
