Next Day Air

For some reason Grandma J was hell bent on seeing this movie. She did ponder seeing the Hannah Banana movie, but thought is was probably too juvenile....you know like the TV show or that other one....Zack and Cody. But a very knowledgeable blogger (MV where's your blog) assured Grandma J that it wasn't half bad...and actually quite good.

Someone suggested that maybe Grandma J should try a little chick flick starring Matthew McConaughey. Then another blogger said they saw Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and even though it was predictable, they liked it.

So, off to the movies it was! And because I had a generous gift card, I invited no one who needed a paid seat "I feel like a neglected stepchild" Phillip Johnny Bob.

He was so excited, that he forgot we were going out in public......and neglected to get fully dressed. Silly boy!

We got our popcorn, and nabbed our usual front row seat so we could put our feet up on the rail. I want to take a moment to thank the kind Soldier who offered to take our picture, even though he was on a date. Grandma J is always amazed the way perfect strangers are so friendly and willing to reach out.

Now for the movie....

It starts with a perpetually stoned NDA (Next Day Air) courier, delivers a parcel to the wrong apartment in a seedy part of Philadelphia. The small time hustlers (Mike Epps and Wood Harris), who sign for it immediately contact the cousin of one of theirs to sell the drugs.

Meanwhile, the Mexican drug kingpin, is constantly calling the intended recipient, a Puerto Rican thug and his GF ( Cisco Reyes and Yasmin Delez) asking if they received the box. They innocently insist they haven't received it, and when the drug lord tells them that he tracked it and it was signed for....they decide to track down the package themselves.

Now, the small time hustlers are in the process of finalizing their deal....drugs for money...but oops!

Their thug neighbor shows up with the Mexican drug kingpin and his sidekick.

Can you say, ay chihuahua?

The rest is predictable. No surprises at all throughout the movie.

The movie didn't shake Grandma J's tree at all. Comedy? bleh....not really funny enough to be classified as a comedy. Bad language? Ummm more than necessary and it got a bit boring except for the girlfriend, who was funny.

Grandma J wasn't impressed with this low budget attempt at being a racy version of Tyler Perry light...or whatever it tried to be.

For what it was worth....I give it 2 ½ parcels out of five.

Oh no, that's disappointing. Well, at least you got some popcorn, right? Unless Phillip Johnny Bob hogged it all.

What did he think of it? Did they let him in the theater without shoes and wearing boxer briefs?

LOVE the photo of you two. I'm sure there was a purple pocketbook to match your shirt....in fact if my eyes don't mistake me PJB is sitting on it!

The movie review was great. Better than Siskel and Ebert and still pictures to go along with. I assume it's a thumbs down. You're great! I'm still amazed at your techno ability w/ the computer. BTW - thanks for the photo tips.

So shy Grandma J was minding her own business, and a Soldier just happened to offer to take a picture of her and her teddy bear, who happens to wear boxers? HA

Hmmm, I have never even heard of that movie!

Have you seen Wolverine yet? My Hughie is delicious in it...just saying.

Bingo Colin!

I was about to point out the same thing....

Grandma J is so "SHY" that she (now, picture this people)...approached a soldier, in a theater, while carrying a stuffed animal in boxers (bizarre that he is in clothes AT ALL)...and she asks if he would take their picture. And she then sits and poses, as if the bear is gonna eat that popcorn.

yeah...you are SO SHY Grandma J.

And, can only imagine the "shyness" it takes to go to Target with your stuffed animal, and try on baby clothes.

Um, Just showed Doug your blog...and after getting over things, like PBJ...dressed, and such...he said, "She is the lady you tell your kids to stay away from"...LOL.

PJB didn't get arrested for prancing around half dressed?! I hope the popcorn was good at least.

Sorry, no blog. I've been toying with starting a photo blog. I will let you know if I do.

I just hope PJB is ok with all the bad language...you know the youngsters if they hear it, they will repeat it. Last thing we need is he and JJ cussing all over TX!!!
I bet the nice soldier is still chuckling about the silly lady wanting her picture taken at the theater w/ a bear!!! :)
Love your reviews.
