Cash For Clunkers........
.....is broke

It seems like you might be out of luck if you wanted to take advantage of the billion dollar stimulus program known as Cash For Clunkers. After less than a week, the program ran out of money.

Of course if you wanted to trade in this Nash Rambler, you probably wouldn't qualify because hellooo, it's a classic it's not a gas guzzler, and why would you trade it in? Just because it uses leaded gas and isn't equipped with Sirius XM radio and SYNC airbags and seat belts and.... well anyway, hold on because another infusion of cash might be on the way...besides, what's another billion down the drain cash anyways?

Now Grandma J is off to see her Friday Matinee. Will it Be G-Force or something else?

I read this through gritted teeth because hey, it's just a billion here and a billion there. Pretty soon uttering the words "a trillion dollars" is going to seem like chump change.

Is it really a surprise that CfC is broke...already?

I don't understand that either.

Why, oh why do we let men make decisions in Washington...women should rule the world and there wouldn't be issues such as this.

Love the crab in the road!!!

I thought I heard, on the news last nite, that the site is overwhelmed so its taking a long time for each trade in/sale to be processed .. and that 'they' were not sure when funds would run out but they did say they got a much larger response then they planned for .. now there's a surprise ..

Supposedly the administration might throw another couple billion on the clunker fire. This isn't exactly a fair way to spend the taxpayers' stimulus money.

I can imagine people trading in their clunkers, using the stimulus as a down payment, and defaulting on the loan within 6 months. Let's get the gov. out of the automobile business.

I wish they would toss a billion dollars MY way. I'd stimulate the economy faster than you can say "red tape"!!!

I was so very excited to read that our leaders are scrambling to get more funds into the C4C program. Not. But, may I add, those of us in Detroit thank every one of you who bought an American-made car. You may have noticed that talking out of both sides of my mouth is my specialty.

Caution, I bought a Ford, they didn't take a bailout and they are turning a profit.

My hub works for a dealer, they just extended the program with another 2 billion dollars. I had to write billions because I 'm not sure how many zero's there are.
