A to Z Monday

This weeks letter is the letter Z

Grandma J has picked the word Zipper! Zippers can be generic

or come in boy and girl models

The B. F. Goodrich Company coined the name Zipper in 1923 for the line of rubber overshoes that it made using the fastener. The name slowly came to be associated with the fastener itself, and eventually acquired generic status.

But, the zipper was invented a long time before that, and, it wasn't called a zipper....and Wikipedia is looking for some substantiated answers. Grandma J doesn't have any.

This is a Zipper Lake in Taiwan....pretty darn cool!

We've all had our share of rides on the Zipper ride at the fair. An oldie but goodie.

Be sure and check out other Z words at A to Z Mondays....come join us as we start the alphabet half-assed backwards!

20 This is what I have to say about that..:

I avoid sewing with zippers at all cost...I was so happy when they made velco and of course, I love to use buttons to avoid putting in a zipper.

That zipper ride would make me throw my guts up. For days.

I was never a zipper ride fan. Usually made me throw up. And I had no idea there were boy/girl zippers??

So, do they close up that zipper lake at night, or what? I now feel quite educated on zipperology!

Wow. I love learning here. I am going to go tell Kaishon and Naji about the zipper lake right now. I would show them, but I shoved them into bed a few moments ago, and as fabulous as zipper lake is, it is not worth getting up the pzychos, I mean, sweeties : ) Love those babies to bits!

I'm a post late, but I have a burning question about your 4th of July rice krispy treats. How do you get them colored on top only? And I noticed that the extra parts have no coloring on them, so obviously the food coloring doesn't go into the general mix. Zowie, those look yummy!

Karen, The rice krispy treat stars are dipped in sprinkles. You have to dip when they are still sticky, that's why there is so much left over stuff...it was losing it's stickiness.

The Cookie Monster, pumpkin and wreaths have the color added to the mix, and I suppose you could do that with the stars, but you would have to seperate the butter marshmallow mix into different containers to color it before you add the cereal. I know, I'm such a friggin genius when it comes to junk. lol
