IT'S BACK TO SCHOOL!

Things sure have changed since my kids were in school. For the last couple of weeks I've noticed Target and Walmart have tons of printed lists of supplies required by the different schools. They have them all arranged by class and teachers in a color coordinated file system.

Is this the norm everywhere? I can't imagine the financial dent this must put in a family budget if they have several children.

Since I don't have to worry about spiral notebooks and number two pencils.....I decided to do my part and took my Granddaughter for a back-to-school pedi.

Grandma J just doesn't always sit on the right side for picture taking, but as you can see, her granddaughter is busy reconnecting after a long vacation in So CA.

But all wasn't lost because ...........

Someone else reluctantly agreed because his mother insisted to getting his toes groomed.

What a wonderful grandmother you are.

Guess who I had dinner with last night? Big Hair Envy, Mental Mamma and Momx2!

Good for him! Looks like fun.

As for the supplies, unfortunately with budget cuts to education, the schools (and the teachers) can no longer afford even the basics. We haven't sent lists home with our kids yet, but I spent about hundred dollars at target and staples this year furnishing supplies for my students. It is costly.

Yes, this back to school mania is all across the country. I've noticed though, that some things are really cheap..20 cents for crayons, glue goes for 25 cents and so on. At least there are deals to be had.

You know, if I could get John to do it just one time, he'd be hooked. He's on his feet all day and it would just feel sooooo good. But he's a sissy.
I bet that boy loved it, didn't he?

I guess since I don't have kids in school anymore I don't even notice what they have at Wal_mart. But next year my oldest grandson will start Kindergarten, so I'll start paying attention again.
Oh boy, that's what I have to look forward to when my granddaughter turns into a teenager. I look forward to it.

This is so nice and you are the best Grandma ever!!!
We have the lists too...I don't do anything anymore until the kids bring HOME their list because the teachers are all different. I have been buying misc stuff though for the kids whose parents are out of work...there are lots of those this year starting school with NO supplies. So sad.

I think it is the norm now.

He gets points for going through it with a smile. My male cousin gets his done on a regular basis.

We still didn't go back to school shopping. I know that I already commented on this, but I just wanted to tell you that I am procrastinating. And also, looking for money. I can't find it in my accounts : ) I need to go look in Gary's : ). Do you believe we still have seperate accounts? I tell him that we have to share everything since we are married : ). He doesn't listen.
