.....on the I-10
Grandma J drove 3,244 miles on her road trip of 8 days. Two days traveling to Florida from Texas, two days traveling back. Let me do the math for you...over 600 miles a day = 1,267 each way.
The other miles were spent on the four days in between, traversing Central Florida, going from restaurant to restaurant with a bunch of hooligans.
Most nights, no matter how tired we were, we would pull into
Once the Love Bugs hit, Grandma J knew it was her cue to hit the road. Seriously.
Here's a close up of two. They only come in pairs, and that's just the way it is when they hit your windshield.
Mississippi and Louisiana are made up of bridges several miles long that roll up and down like roller coasters.
The go on forever, one right after another.
Grandma J knew when she was getting close to Texas........
Gotta love the Cowboy fans in 'Nawlins!!

Wow. You were busy driving. Did you put your radio on and roll the windows down? I hope you had a fantastic time.
I have never experienced love bugs. Or those bridges. They look pretty. I would love to take some pictures of them. And some pictures of you. And some pictures of the love bugs! : ) In that order.
Yikes! That's a lot of driving. Those bugs sound kind of gross. I think I would have headed out to get away from them too.
You are quite the driver. Have you ever thought of a career in trucking?
I loathe the love bugs. They are all over the place here...and I do sometimes see a single love bug, but they are always on their way to "hook" up with another.
Oh is it lovebug season already? You always know it's coming when all the locals have those nets all over their grills! Glad you had fun, and is there anything better than those lemon and orange freezes at Steak n Shake?????
Maybe they meant Geaux Away Cowboys we loves our Saints ...
So does this mean you are driving to VA this July? It sure will seem like a drive to the corner, wont it.
Glad you got home safe. Not sure if I could have made that drive! Whew! But you gotta love them Cowboys!
<><
I guess long ago a science problem went wrong and we have these things. nothing eats them and the are everywhere. They stay away from bug zappers too.
Those are some impressive mileage numbers.
This is a great travel post. Thanks for sharing.
Ahhh! Love Bug season! Did you get enough on your grill to require the use of a powerwasher? Poor thing!
It's worth repeating...
GEAUX COWBOYS!!
