A Friday Matinee...review

With all the rain this week, Grandma J decided to see a movie midweek.  Even though this movie has been out there for a couple of weeks, and even though Grandma J isn't a Sci-Fi junkie, she decided to break with her norm and see.......

GRAVITY

If it weren't for the rave reviews, and Grandma J's love for Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, she never would have put out big bucks to see Gravity in 3-D at an IMAX theatre.  But it turns out it was a decision that was well worth it.

The 3-D made the suspense of feeling vulnerable in the weightlessness of space very real. It was so surreal feeling as if you were right there in space...all alone .in a vast emptiness.  Well, alone with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.  Even so, each of us were really alone.  Yes, I am very philosophical, aren't I?  Thank you.

Sandra Bullock is Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission.....

with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky.

While on a routine space walk, and doing minor maintenance outside the space shuttle, a meteor or asteroid (is there a difference?) destroys the shuttle.   Ryan and Matt remain tethered but with space debris coming at them from everywhere they become separated.

The cinematography is so amazing and with the 3-D being superb, you really feel like you are out in space with beautiful vistas of earth.  Believe it or not, Bullock and Clooney are the only two actors in this movie with the voice of Ed Harris as Mission Control.

Even though Grandma J doesn't like Sci-Fi or anything spacey, she highly recommends that you see Gravity.  Don't wait for it to come out on Netflex or DVD.   It's so realistic in 3-D on the big screen.

It gets five stars!

XOXO Grandma J
