I've Made A Huge Decision

I'm going to a matinee today. That's right, it will be a Friday Matinee on Tuesday. I know this drives some people nuts, but let's not kid ourselves, some people are nuts from the get go nuts might be a tad better than berserk.

I'm gonna see the new Disney Pixar movie, UP! Minus the exclamation point, but in 3D.

Has anyone seen it? Should I bother? The last two movies I saw were duds in my opinion, so I can't help but wonder if I'm getting too critical or just picking the wrong movies.

Be sure and check back later in the day to see if it's Up or Down. Of course it's Up because that's the name of the movie...unless it's down.

My Greener Side

Starting today, Grandma J is focusing on her countdown to moving calendar. It's all about packing, cleaning shopping. There are purchases that have been on the back burner for a while, but with the upcoming move, they have jumped to the top of the "how I spend my spendable income list".

One luxury item will be a new flat panel TV because Huey, the maintenance guy at the new and improved compound, which is more like a spa, has offered to mount stuff and install stuff for Grandma J. And yes, I know that last sentence could have easily been three paragraphs.

That's why the timing is right for a new wall mounted TV, and decorator rods and pictures to be hung. Huey could easily become Grandma J's best friend. But what I really want to talk about is being green.

Grandma J went to Walmart yesterday to get some boxes so she could start packing. While she was making her way through the bakery hardware department, she saw these......

Green totes for only $4.50. The free cardboard boxes were tempting, but Grandma J bit the bullet and bought these totes to save a tree or two. There is an overlap of six days for moving stuff, so the same two totes can be used over and over....along with four older totes that Grandma J already has.

Oh yes, and I know what you are thinking! That's right, you saw that bottled water. Well, here's the story on the water. Grandma J hates water......really hates water. She hates bottled water. The thing is, she has to drink a ton of it a day, and Aqua Fina is the only stuff she can drink. A Brita filtered carafe of tap water is used for coffee and cooking. But here is the good news. Lookie.....

Aquafina is getting GREENer! Yeah for Aquafina.

And check this out! Here is a very green thing, Disney and The Nature Conservancy has vowed to plant 2.7 million trees in the rain forests bordering the Atlantic Ocean in Brazil. The effort is a promotion on Disney’s part, as well as an act of environmentalism.

Disney is planting one tree for each movie-goer who buys a ticket to “Earth,” Disney’s sweeping nature documentary that follows families of wild animals through their struggles.

I plan on seeing this movie, how about you?

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

One of the few pictures I've ever taken that words don't do justice. I took this in the middle of the night from the front seat of a moving car on the way to Disney Paris.

...now for a splash of Big Brother rants.
Please raise your hand if you think Jerry is a total ass! After Dan tells "the Colonal" how much he respects and admires him, which was a stretch and very generous, Jerry rips him a new one! Dan was right, Jerry just bought Dan more sympathy and time. I think Jerry has an inflated ego.

Does anyone think Michelle was a bit over the top trying to pit Keesha against Libra? I mean when someone's down lets gang up and stomp on her.
Don't even get me started on April, the ho with the mo. Right now, Renny and Dan are my favorites. Memphis is nice, but riding the fence.
What's your take? Who's your favorite?

PRINCESSES ARE LIKE CHOCOLATE
You can't get enough of either

Or so it goes in the World of Fantasy at Disney. Does anyone remember when little girls had just three princesses to worship? Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Miss Piggy Snow White. Then of course with all things not being equal, Disney added several more like Pocahontas, a Native American, Belle who fell in love with a beast, Ariel, a mermaid, Jasmine, Aladdin's girlfriend, Mulan, who is Chinese...and who knows who else lives in the Magic Kingdom.

I do know that for over a year now, Disney has been making and re-making a movie called The Princess and The Frog. The main character is an African American Princess named Tiana. Originally her name was supposed to be Maddy, but that created a whole lot of bruhaha about stereotyping....whatever. Anyhow, Tiana, was supposed to be a chamber maid, but for previously stated reasons was re-characterized as a heroine. Tiana lives in Bayou Country where everyone has a French type name, like the villain, Dr. Duvalier, who is full of voodoo, fortune telling and magic spells all over the place.

Tiana is beautiful and a heroine in the greatest tradition of Disney.
The problem is, Disney had a descender of sorts. Remember little Alice in Wonderland? Well, she's been around from day one, and has yet been brought into the Princess Inner Circle. So after several visits to the ACLU Human Resources Department, she finally got her ranking as "Princess", and added to the annual group portrait.
I think that was a smart move, and I thought the Princess Circle was pretty much complete with the upcoming inclusion of Tiana. Not so fast! Minnie and one of her cohorts decided what's good for the goose is, well, see for yourself.
And if that wasn't bad enough, Disney is adding two more Princesses into the fold. Rapunzel, the princess and the movie, 2010. Then Princess Merida in the movie, The Bear and the Bow, 2011. So moms? Get ready for the demands for dresses, wigs, shoes, DVDs or Blu-Rays.

Oh and for all of you who were worried sick....just a few possible fractures that the doctor wasn't sure about so he called in the radiologist who took a look at the xrays and said "Beats me", then left. So we are going to give it a few days for the swelling to go away, they they might be able to tell if the two shadows are indeed breaks. Thank you for being concerned. I just wish it wasn't my right hand, because that's the thumb I usually suck.
The gauze is between my two taped fingers to keep them from getting irritated from sweat! Isn't that explanation extremely scientific?
