Bea Arthur passed away today.....born Bernice Frankel, we knew and loved her as Maude, and as Dorothy Zbornak, a real Golden Girl......May she rest in peace.
I have great memories of watching Maude with my parents. My mother would laugh so hard when she said, "Walter! Sit!" Such a wonderful dry wit. She was one of the greats.
My Grandma was the sweetest little lady. She was a mennonite. Do you know what they are? Very conservative kind of like the Amish. TV's were absolutely banned in their homes.
So my Grammy never had one when I was little. My PopPop died and my Grammy got a teeny tiny TV. It was black and white and she kept it in her closet. She didn't tell anyone.
Sometimes my sister and I would get to sleep over on Saturday nights at her apartment. We would all get ready for bed and then she would pull down the TV from the closet and we would watch The Golden Girls together. What a nice memory. I miss her.
i did not watch much of her on golden girls, but i always anticipated maude's arrival at the bunkers. she and archie's run ins were pure comic genius... bea's dry style, coupled with attitude will be missed!

I guess she lived a good, long life. I enjoyed her on the Golden Girls. She was 'classy'.
What a wonderful actress we have lost and the ultimate comedienne!
I loved the show Maude and of course there was nothing funnier than Golden Girl's.
I loved her in everything she did. I truly feel sad for her loss.
I do know her...that was back when I watched TV...and shows weren't as obnoxious!
Happy Weekend!
Thanks for the post , I didn't know she past away.
How did I miss this? I have been really busy ... it's my birthday week, afterall!
Poor Bea...
I am saddened beyond words.
What? She is my fav actress from the 70s - 90s. Her deadpan humor is the best. I will miss her. :(

Oh the laughs I have had from this lady!
Rest in peace.
