Our family is especially thankful for the service of SG John, and feel blessed that he is home once again.

How is Your Weather?

 Grandma J is under hers.

So, she took JJ to doggie daycare, where he can frolic with his friends.....but don't tell him that's what it's called. he thinks it's School!

Grandma J had several clues that JJ wasn't getting his fair share of physical activity.....

...when she ended up with this after a wrestling bout with The J Man.

Traveling Back Home....
.....on the I-10

Grandma J drove 3,244 miles on her road trip of 8 days. Two days traveling to Florida from Texas, two days traveling back.  Let me do the math for you...over 600 miles a day = 1,267 each way.

The other miles were spent on the four days in between, traversing Central Florida,  going from restaurant to restaurant with a bunch of hooligans.

Most nights, no matter how tired we were, we would pull into Hooter's Steak 'n Shake on the way back to the Hotel.

Once the Love Bugs hit, Grandma J knew it was her cue to hit the road.  Seriously.

Here's a close up of two.  They only come in pairs, and that's just the way it is when they hit your windshield.

Mississippi and Louisiana are made up of bridges several miles long that roll up and down like roller coasters.

The go on forever, one right after another.

Grandma J knew when she was getting close to Texas........

Gotta love the Cowboy fans in 'Nawlins!!

Today Was Not My Day

tomorrow doesn't looks much better......sort of.

Grandma J is trying to be optimistic, but then she was optimistic when she  went to bed last night, and by morning she felt like a herd of elephants trampled across her throat.

Some of you know that Grandma J went to her  doctor's office and had a 1 1/2 hour wait because it was 11:30 and they were wrapping up for the morning.

She sat in my car wallowing in my delusional state and played scrabble on her iPhone.  At 1:00 she  thought she'd see the doctor soon since there were only a couple of people in the office.  But, Grandma J was reminded that she didn't have an appointment....she was a walk-in.   So, we can bump up that waiting time until 2PM.

Now, no one is complaining....by 3:30 PM, Grandma J was back home with her drugs.

and look who was waiting for her!

...the edible edition

Brought to you this week by the letter R

For one of Grandma J's all time favorite cereals.....Rice Krispies.

Grandma J and her siblings never had sugared cereal as kids, and she never gave it to her kids.   Why you ask?  OK, you didn''t ask, but she'll tell you.   It's because cereal taste awful with sugary milk.

Rice Krispies is crunchy and flavorful without ruining the milk, and Grandma J loves her milk.

As a kid, when Grandma J was one of three kids before the last two brats where born, her mother Rita sent away for three puppets....Snap, Crackle and Pop.   They would be worth plenty today, don't you think?

Grandma J loved making Rice Krispies Treats for her kids.    They still ask her to make them because she uses real butter and lots of marshmallows.

At Christmas time she makes Rice Krispies Treat wreaths.......

They've become a big hit at her daughter's  place of work every year.

Then A-Ron asked Grandma J to make him a special Rice Krispies Treat for his team's bake sale.

Yes, he asked for the Cookie Monster.   Two of them.   They sold for  $5 each.   And yes, the bake sale was in front of Walmart...you could have guessed, right?

Any cookie cutter can turn a Rice Krispies Treat into something festive, patriotic and easy.

But somehow, not everyone gets the drift of making these simple treats.....

It's too bad they never translated the Rice Krispies Treat recipe in Chinese.

Now, mosey on  over to A to Z Mondays and check out a plethora of R foods, hosted by Jen at unglazed.   It's never to late to join in!

Grandma J has a garbage load  plethora of stuff to tell you about her trip and her return to the Spa.   Standing on her head and spitting rubber nickles isn't one of them, but close!

A to Z Monday on Tuesday
....the food edition

Brought to you by the letter Q

But since Grandma J is on a Revolutionary Road Trip, driving over 600 miles a day in treacherous weather....

.....she forgot her name what day of the week it was!

She crossed rivers like the Mississippi, Swanee, Black,  and Chattahoochee.

Then she saw Mobile 'Bama in the distance, and knew she was just a few more river crossings away from Biloxi Mississippi.

And now she's busy resting in Biloxi Mississippi.

The only Q's she's seen are Quarters.

Lots of Quarters.

Grandma J thinks you can still see some fabulous Q foods over at A to Z Monday hosted by Jen at unglazed.

A Purpose Driven Road Trip

Some people will use any excuse for a road trip.   Other people need a really good reason...

Grandma J had the best reason ever.....because her oldest granddaughter, Turtle, was graduating from high school.  Not just any high school, but a school of choice.

Miss T graduated with honors up the ying yang.....

...allowing her to be front and center.

She had so much fun graduating from high school......

That she decided to graduate with her AA degree from the Community College the same week!

Grandma J wouldn't have missed this road trip for the world.

Now, it's time for the hotel's hot tub.

Road Trip STATS
Formula 2X2X3=ZZZZ

Grandma J is ready to explain her first leg of her road trip, but before she starts you might want to dust off your old first grade arithmetic  eighth grade math book and follow along.....

Grandma J's first stop was dinner and a sleepover in Ft. Worth.

With him....

We had BBQ.  He had an Arnold Palmer.  When he was a little boy he would have a Roy Rogers.

Our suite was sweet...ish

Plenty of room to cook...but who does that?

The sky looking towards Oklahoma.  Who knew it would reek havoc....sadly.

Crossing the Mississippi.....

The view from Grandma J's room from Harrah's Grand Casino in Biloxi MS.

Housekeeping is giving Grandma J some looks because it's past check-out time.   Does everything have to be done on schedule??

Hasta!

A to Z Mondays
...the edible edition

Brought to you this week by the letter P

For Pickle.  Which is really a cucumber that you do stuff to, and it becomes Pickled.

Here are some of Grandma J's favorite Pickles....

Jumping right to the head of the line is a scared pickle

Of course in 1972, scamming some of your son's Easter eggs for pickling is always a good idea.  This practice has since been outlawed.

And what's a meal without dessert....

Pickle Sherbet....a pregnant idea!

I know, you already figured out that Grandma J isn't a pickle lover.  Somewhat a no brainer, don't you think?

But....she is fixing to head on out on her third infamous road trip.  This is like no other road trip in history.   No books, no meet ups, and no sponsors. She will however, be driving a Ford with SYNC and satellite radio tuned to the 80's 60's.  Can you feel the excitement mounting?

Now please mosey on over to A to Z Mondays, hosted by Jen at unglazed for a plethora of P foods.
