BABY IT' COLD OUTSIDE

Photobucket

It's been crazy cold here in Central Texas the last few days. Yesterday was in the seventies until late afternoon. My daughter called and told me it was freezing outside...I told her I had just gotten home, and took my sweatshirt off because I was so hot. She said, "well, walk outside and see how cold it's gotten". I glanced at my indoor outdoor thermometer, and it said 34 degrees out...so I ran outside and it was windy and freezing. How does that happen so fast? The sun hadn't set yet either. By 8 p.m. it was sleeting!

So now today, another Texas blogger announces "It's snowing people". Now this blogger has lived in Texas for several years, and proclaimed this is the first snow she has seen in her part of Texas. Remember, Texas is huge....even bigger than non-Texans realize.

I arrived in Texas two days before Easter, 2007, and this is what it looked like the day before Easter Sunday in Central Texas.

Over eight inches of snow. The real thing!

The kids got pretty excited and dressed for winter playtime! They built a snowman, so did most of the neighbors.

None of this cancelled our neighhood BBQ.

Can we hope for a white Christmas?

We were in the seventies today, and they're calling for the exact same dramatic drop in temps tonight, accompanied by precipitation, but not sleet. I could only hope it would be sleet. (We never get snow or anything fun, or rather it is very rare.)

They say tomorrow's rain could set records. Just in time for my "outdoor decorating day" where I try to correct what I've already messed up.

Oh, we can hope!!!

I know; it's weird here in California, too. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 70, and by next Wednesday, we're supposed to have two days of snow showers (unseasonably early, and rare to boot). They're saying it's a "50-year arctic blast" that will produce snow in SoCal down to 1500 feet! YAY! :)

Baby Fav, I used to love when it snowed in the So CA mountains. I lived at 2k ft for five years and we got snow a couple of times a year. The best is when two people live in the same house, and one can go skiing, and the other lay on the beach and both be home for dinner. Amazing!!

If it's going to be cold, it might as well snow! Nothing is worse than a cold rain!!

You never know...you could have a white christmas, or a shorts and Tshirt Christmas.
I love those pics. When we lived in TX (dallas area) we had several cold winters with sleet and ice...not fun at all.
It was nice here for a few weeks and then today....hot as ever and humid. I may have to put the a/c on to sleep...bummer.

oh silly girl! you obviously haven't been in texas long enough to know the chances of a white christmas are slim to none. a white easter? absolutely. happens more often than you'd think.

sigh...i'm thinking it's going to be more like flip flops on christmas

....ha ha, I thought it was actually "snowing people!" - You know, a term like "raining cats and dogs"...I wasn't quite sure what it meant until I read it again....that's what I get for working with booger pickers all day!

Like CBW said, seventy here yesterday ... low sixties this am, dropping to the forties this afternoon ... 2-5 inches of rain expected ... and I wonder why I was an hour late coming in to work today.

Isn't it fun! I hope there is snow in Virginia for Christmas if it's 80 degrees and hot I'm getting back on the plane for the cold weather of Texas! :)

We don't get much snow in Texas, but we do occasionally get some. I remember when I was in high school we got enough to make a really big snowman. Haven't seen that much since then. We can only hope for a white Christmas. The kids - well, they just hope for ice so that school gets cancelled.

Good luck on having a white Christmas.

BTW, It's 32 here in New York today

I hope you get a white Christmas if that is what you want. I'm not a huge fan of the snow because I am afraid to drive in it, but I sure did love snow days when I was growing up. Kaishon doesn't really love playing in the snow that much either. I am going to have to try to make him more excited about it this year because it is something special!

Well, CBW & CB have given you our latest weather forecast, so I'll spare you. I'm not a big fan of snow, but would really like to have a white Christmas:)

Grandma....it is so cold in northern Florida. I am freezing my cahonies off....well if I had cahonies, they'd be gone.

Jason pointed out the fact that I said it was snowing people. I should have written "it's snowing, people!" I love the snow!
