Now, back to our regularly scheduled
FRIDAY MATINEE on
After church I met up with the family for a movie....we went to see Four Christmases with Vince Vaughn and Reese Wither
Let's just cut to the chase...it stunk. I mean it really stunk big time. Go ahead and see it, and if you like it, then you
First of all....I love Vince Vaughn more than you can even imagine. It borders on scary. But this movie was so never going to happen in real life, not even in Disney real life. How's this....Bolt was more realistic!
There were funny moments, and some hysterical moments. But the story? It stunk. Did I already say that?
I was disappointed in the silly roles that Robert Duvall and Sissy Spacek had. But....there was one bright moment for me.
Jon Voight. His role as Katie's father was very touching. It was a serious and heartfelt scene. I could feel the love he has for his daughter...his real life daughter. I hate that he can't do anything to reconcile with her. He's a man I admire for many reasons, and I'm glad they didn't give him a silly slap stick role.
After the movies we headed back to my daughter's home.
It was a family affair and Marianne, my son-in-law's mother, made him his favorite egg rolls. I scooted out before dinner because this is the last evening they will share together in a long time. She heads back to Arizona in the morning, and he heads back to Iraq in January. That's an Adidas logo that lit up from the flash...what?
They usually have a huge tree....somehow I was surprised (pleasantly) that the kids picked out a cute short one...well 6+ feet.
I don't know what it looks like finished, but they were having a blast.
Along with new laptops and the like from their Oma.
I think JJ wants to go to Arizona!
Oh, and the movie?? I give it two and a half skunks!

I also LOVE Vince Vaughn and thought the movie was not going to do well....too bad. Thanks again for saving me time. :)
So glad that your SIL was able to spend some nice time with his Mom...I am sure she misses him bunches too.
The Christmas tree is very cute and they DO look like they were having fun getting it up.... Take care,
SUZ
Awww! I liked it! It was definitely unrealistic but it was fun and funny. You are taking your movie critic role a little too seriously! ;)
Sounds like a nice day!
Bummer that the movie wasn't that great. It looks funny and I thought about going over the Christmas break, but I guess I'll save my money. I did get stuck taking Madison to see Twilight over the Thanksgiving weekend. I haven't read the books, so I thought the movie was ok, but Madison noticed the differences.
I love the review---I will wait for it to hit tv. I think my mother was going to see that over the weekend and she won't have liked it then if it was unrealistic silly. I love Vince Vaughn too.
We LOVED Four Christmases! I enjoy Vince Vaughn's humor; he kinda reminds me of this brother I have. And your Wall*E review was good and the biys did not like it at all. I may have to think twice now when I read your reviews, hmmmmm....

Thanks for saving me the trouble. I thought it looked good as I love the both of them.
I'm glad you SILs' mother was there. We've been spending time with Jims' family as he is also leaving in January for Afghanistan.
We put up our tree last night. The girls went insane. I guess the love of Christmas is contagious.
I was wanting to see it. Thanks for saving me the trouble and money, I too will wait for it to come out for rent or the TV version.
What a great OMA, my daughter is begging for her own laptop.
Looks like fun was had by all decorating the Christmas tree. That's what it's all about.
I can't tell the last time I actually saw a movie in the theater.
I'll wait to hate it after seeing it on tv.
What a bummer. I had such high hopes for that movie! I guess I'll cross that one off of my list....not that I ever go to the movies anyway, but IF I wanted to...
I think #1 saw this. I will need a full explanation from her. I will then compare reviews and rent it when it comes out!

Peeps! I hope my review doesn't stop people from seeing this if they really want to. It's a mixed bag.
Like I said, it was funny and hysterical in parts but the story was out in left field.
Just didn't want to ruin it for anyone. I can only give you my honest opinion for my $8. Although, most of the REAL CRITICS gave it pretty bad reviews too. Which makes me wonder....what kind of credentials does one need to give a real review?
I could tell I wasn't going to like the movie : ). It just seemed SO unrealistic...and you know how most Hollywood Movies DO indeed seem like they will be somewhat realistic : ).
I am already praying for your son in law. I can't imagine how hard that is to be so far from your friends and family. I will send him mail : ).
I wonder if you could contact your local paper and see if they would be interested in your reviews : ). You are SO hilarious! I think a paper would LOVE to have you on board. Not that you need to work or anything, I'm just saying, it's something to think about : ).
If Grandma J. thinks it stinks, then I say it stinks.
If Grandma J. calls Reese Witherspoon Reese's Peanub Butter Cup, I'm gonna too.
HILARIOUS.
I had read poor reviews on it, and was hoping the critics were wrong.
That stinks!
No pun intended.
I just read another bloggers view on this movie. I love both Vince and Reese, so I'm very disappointed that they choose these roles. I'll wait for it to hit cable!
hugs!
