NEWS FLASH!

Body scanners replace metal detectors in tryout at Tulsa airport

An experimental program that begins today at Tulsa International Airport will test whether the $170,000 body scanners could replace $10,000 metal detectors that have screened airline passengers since 1973.

Airports in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Miami, Albuquerque and Salt Lake City will join the test in the next two months, TSA spokesman Christopher White said.

The scanners aim to close a loophole by finding non-metallic weapons such as plastic and liquid explosives, which the TSA considers a major threat.

The machines raise privacy concerns because their images reveal outlines of private body parts.

Philip Johnny Bob freaked when he heard this: causing Grandma J to say, "We're getting closer and closer to a required strip-search to board an airplane,"

And, didn't everyone's brother having a pair of these? My brother swore they really worked, causing Grandma J to run screaming. Maybe this would be a cheaper less invasive method for the TSA.....which reminds Grandma J that she must remember to shave and moisturize..

I can promise you there won't be any body scanners or metal detectors to gain entry to the Blog Fest. However, based on preliminary discussions with Big Hair Envy, we do anticipate a few naked people running around, so you may want to get a pair of "reverse x-ray-vision" glasses. The kind that puts clothes on people who need them.

Shave and moisturize? Oh my gosh, one more thing I have to remember to do!!! Clean underwear that match my bra also. Maybe I will just take the greyhound from now on.
I am wondering if those machines will find the bullet I swallowed as a child. hmmmm.

Oh my. I won't be wanting to go to an airport any time soon... I can't believe this is ANOTHER thing I have to worry about : ).

I watched a 20/20 or Dateline or some news program on that a month of so ago and they showed how it worked and really truly, it wasn't a strip show. It just let them see things that might be under your close, but not your boobs or hoohaws or whatever. Plus, your face is blurred out to the people who are looking at it. You know how much I LOVE having my picture taken and I wouldn't mind it at all, especially if it makes me safer.

Oh, and as for the chocolates...I chose "other" since I've been in to truffles lately. I don't ever crave it, but when I have a truffle, it's super delicious.

People get all paranoid at the airport. Every time I fly people in line get ticked off about taking their shoes off and jackets. One lady said no one's ever asked her to do that before. I guess she hasn't flown since 9/11.
I go prepared, shoes that slip off easily and if I'm wearing a jacket its off before I get in line.
I welcome all the security measures they throw at me.
