THE LETTER....

This week I was going to use Ketchup to represent the Letter K....OK, OK, so what if I used Catsup for the Letter C. But really don't you just love how much mileage I can get out of a bottle of tomato paste?

Instead I'm using a Kangaroo. Can you believe the Kangaroo is the mascot for oldest High School here in Killeen? There are four high schools, and only one mall!

The first one, Killeen High School has Kangaroos for a mascot. They refer to themselves as the 'Roos. Yeah, I would too.

I think they should refer to themselves as the Killaroos.

Killeen has 3 more high schools and 1 more mall than Mathews does. It also has way more kangaroos.

Are there kangaroos in Texas? I need to know how they got that name.

Too funny....you know there are a million uses for ketchup, catsup, tomato paste, diced tomatos, sauce...etc....
But only you would try to get away with re-using a letter/word. ;0
(I suppose it is recycling in a way?)
Killeen Kangaroos????
That is silly. I have never heard of that as a mascot.....

OK WTF? Some one had to be stoned when they came up with that mascot for a texas town.

We have Tarpon , Spongers.
"cause the sponge docks are there.
And even that had me questioning people.
How could you have a Sponge for a mascot?
Always reminds me of Seinfield!
Sponge Worthy!!!
Great cheer huh?

We had a school that had the beaver as their mascot. I remember a cheer they did....

"We're the beavers,
And we're on top...."

And that is all I heard - I was too busy dying with laugher.

I also got a big kick out of the times that the Beavers played the Trojans!!

And my daughter's soccer team laughed when I recommended the name "The Kick-A-Roos". Pfft! Kangaroos are so under-appreciated as a sports mascot.

Asking Grandma J: How can one mall support 4 high schools worth of teenagers ? ? ?

We have 7 high schools and 1 mall and our mall is HORRIBLE! Everyone around here travels about 30 minutes up the road. However, we don't want our high schoolers traveling that far. Our town needs more to keep the kids busy. With summer coming on, it will help.

K must be a very important letter, since all 3 of your daughters have names that start with K :)

My high school mascot....the Pointers. As in, a Pointer Dog. Yeah. Vicious...

I just read Woody's comment. We had a rival school...the New Kent Trojans. A popular chant at basketball games was, "Pointers use Trojans"!!! I hope your grandchildren aren't reading this...

You guys all crack me up! Especially Woody and BHE. I went from ome HS that had a fierce looking wild cat for a masco, to a school that had were called the Oilers...the mascot was the tin man from the Wizard of Oz, complete with the funnel for a hat. I was so embarrassed.

And of course all three of my daughters have names starting with K...and one of them is a Trojan!! Go USC.

Well, the funniest mascot I ever heard of, was the "Artists"...the Laguna Beach Artists. Nothing wrong with artists in real life, but I imagine them prancing around the football field with a paintbrush in their hand, not so fierce.

We're working on teaching Cooper his letters, so I asked him what letter you had on here. He said "Q", but that's the letter of the week at school. Oh well, we'll keep trying.

We have a MS here whose mascot is the Gulls. As in seagulls. I think that's pretty lame, plus seagulls are super annoying.
