Oscar G. Mayer, retired chairman of the Wisconsin-based meat processing company that bears his name, died Monday at the age of 95.
I have been inside the weinermobile several times over the years......last time was when it rolled up onto the courtyard at my place of employment in Orange County CA in 2004 with my grandson. The cute hostesses give you a tour, and a whistle!!
This jingle is from 1965....the year my oldest daughter was born. I think all my kids learned this jingle before they could walk. ser.i.ous.ly.
Another product's jingle is almost equally well well-known:
My bologna has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R
My bologna has a second name, it's M-A-Y-E-R
Oh, I love to eat it every day, and if you ask me why, I'll say,
"'Cause Oscar Mayer has a way with B-O-L-O-G-N-A."

I texted this to everyone this morning.....I consider it way more devastating than MJ. This is the first name of my baloney and the last name! :( Sad, sad day. We had baloney and cheese sandwiches on white bread for lunch.
I always sing that jingle and my girls think I'm slightly nuts.
My other favorite is the C&H sugar (you remember: C&H, Pure Cane Sugar, From Hawaii, Growing in the Sun . . . .). Can't even find a copy of the C&H one on the internet -- sad.
And I'm SOOO with you on the MJ coverage. At work the other day, I was speaking with someone in London and he couldn't help but keep asking me questions about MJ, the upcoming funeral etc. Gag.
I agree with your earlier commenter who said let's all hear from the children of our fallen military. Now that would be worth hearing.

NO matter how many preservatives, sulfites, sulfates, fat grams and only a remote resemblance to anything nature, Oscar Mayer has The Best bologna and hot dogs. (Although Hebrew National is good too..)

This made me sadder than Michael Jackson's passing. Very sad! LOVE that song! LOVE that weiner mobile. Any car with the name weiner in it has to be cool!
