It's A to Z Monday

Brought to you this week by the letter T

My T word is TOAD

Now, the American Toad is formally called Bufo americanus, and on F week, you can call it a Frog you can read all about it here.

This my friends, is a Texas Horny Toad.......yes it is and Grandma J wouldn't lie to you about such things having to do with Texas.....evah!

Now, for a fleeting moment I entertained the thought of showcasing Celebrity TONGUES....just for a fleeting moment, so slap me silly.

Now, go check out some great T words at A to Z Mondays! And once again, maybe you might want to join us and share your T word.

I have to say, I like the tongues better than the toads.

Is it purely coincidental that both Jessicas have tongues that resemble snakes?

I'm partial to the tree frogs myself. Although, I HAVE seen some horny toads in my day...they usually come around when Snow White is home;)

We will save "slapping you silly" for "S Week". Or maybe not even then!

Aaaah, memories. When I was a wee lass growing up in the small towns around Ft. Worth and not Ireland, as you would expect form a person who uses the expression "wee lass", my cousins and I would run all over the place catching "horney toads". It was a catch and release program with us, but it was always fun.
Now, it is a sad fact that there are no more "horney toads" in that part of the country. I am told that the encroaching fire ants wiped them out. The ants attack and kill the babies and so they are all gone. I don't know if there are any left anywhere else in the state or not.

When I was a kid, my uncle used to pay us to catch frogs for him so he could scare my aunts. I loved that man!!

Love this T! Horney toads are so cute...we found a little tiny one in our yard in Arizona years ago and I was surprsed at his small size. Of course, in TX they are probably all VERY big, right?? hhehehe.

We were at the zoo on Monday and there was a HUGE toad there. It looked like it weighed 50 pounds.

Kaish loves finding little toads in the back yard at my parents. They always pee on your hand when you hold them. Toad pee= yuck!
