When your baseball team becomes State Champs, and summer is over, you start football practice at school.
But, come Saturday.....
You trek on out to the middle of nowhere. Down isolated country roads twenty miles from
You travel past other kids, just waking up, and not quite ready to meet the day. You feel their pain when
But then you get to your destination.....your practice field....your field of dreams.
Early Saturday morning wake-up calls are worth it for
Nothing is more rewarding than a three hour practice in the middle of a hidden, covert field in the middle of Texas. It's especially rewarding knowing your grandma can't get close enough take any tight shots.
Unless it's of the dragon fly that kept her company and amused all morning.
There's nothing fancy about this practice field....just plenty of room with makeshift batting cages and diamonds. No league to tell you your time's up, or coaches from other teams lurking.
Sadly, the property is for sale. The neighbors don't like all the riff raff.
These neighbors.
I can see how this practice field is bringing the neighborhood down.

Then it's lunch at Fuddrucker's in the mall. It's really hard to eat and smile with a mouth full of a 1/2 pounder!

lovely captures...simply beautiful!
Awwwwwwwwww. He is so cute. He is very dedicated to sports. Kaish was sad last night because he was trying to play catch with a neighbor girl and he kept dropping the ball. He told me on the way home he was never going to be good at any sport. I told him he had to practice, practice, practice. He told me he just wants to be a normal boy that is good at all that stuff. My heart breaks.
I have never eaten at Fudruckers. With a name like that, it has to be good : )
Are you serious that the neighbors don't like the team practicing there? Those houses look terrible!
You have to be the BEST grandma in the whole world...I am taking notes for that time in my life.
FUDDRUCKERS is the bomb! My son (now 17) use to call it Funwreckers...don't know why, but I thought it was so cute.
OMG! Fuddruckers. I haven't thought of that place in ten years when I lived in the city. I used to love their taco salad, even though the burgers were what most people went for.
That dragonfly looks oddly big - y'all must grow everything big down there in Texas including your insects.
You are the bestest Grandma ever!
No wonder they were state champs! Win and then keeping practicing!!
I hope when I have grandchildren, I live close enough to have days like this...
...and we love Fudruckers in South Dakota too.
Enjoy your Sunday ~Natalie
Woo Hoo! And that dragonfly is probably my Uncle Bob. He visits us all;)
