Brought to you by the letter...

Yes, we are talking Ants.   Those pesky things that are taking over the earth.   There are all kinds.  Some want your food, some are looking for water and some are out to kill you  bite.

There is one thing Grandma J knows for a fact.   Ants travel in groups, or colonies as some put it.  Or maybe they just live in colonies.

These here are red fire Ants.  Here in Texas, they travel in groups known as vigilante posses.   They are particularly dangerous because their bite stings and burns.  Not only that, but the whole dang posse waits for the word, and they all run up your leg like grease lightning and bite in unison.  Then you scream.

Ok, so now you have Grandma J's definition of Ants.  It might not be scientific, but it's factual.

Now, let me tell you about another A that is high on Grandma J's list.

That's right!  It's the Abba- Zaba candy bar.   They are the best, and for those who have never heard of them, you don't know what you're missing.

You can check out more letter A's over at A to Z Mondays.   Unfortunately, this is the last week because we went foreward, then backwards through the alphabet.   Thanks to Jen at Unglazed for 52 wonderful weeks!

Oh yum taffy with peanut butter in the center .. the dentists have dreams about stuff like this ... Abba-Zaba is like mating a Clark bar with Bonomo's Turkish taffy ..

we have horrible fire ants here as well..and inside, I get those 'ghost' ants a few times a year. they are teeny tiny small and never want to leave the comfort of my home.
Never heard of that candy bar...I am missing out on so much in life. :)

Jason, as himself said...

Ants are the hardest insects to get rid of, that's for sure!

And...will you still like me if I tell you that I have never, ever tried an Abba Zabba bar? Is it like a BIG HUNK?

It's funny that you posted about ants today. I have about 2 or 3 ants in my bathroom since Christmas. I couldn't bring myself to kill them, so I decided to just let them be. They are not fire ants because if they were they would be squished faster than you can say where's the ant spray!
for now, I will just decide to let them stay out of the cold...unless there are more than a dozen of them...then I may reconsider!

Happy New Year!!! Ugh...I hate ants; here in GA we are bothered by scorpions too. I've missed out on this candy too. Like Suz, where have I been? Thanks so much for your visits to my blog and I look forward to the year ahead.

We don't have any fire ants here that I'm aware of--thank goodness for that!

I've never heard of that kind of candy either, but it does sound good.

Happy "A" week to you! :D

Please bring some abba-zaba to blog fest because we are deprived here in Virginia.

The first encounter I had with fire ants was on a golf course in Florida. That's all I'm saying. At least until I have some abba-zabba.

I am not familiar with the Abba-Zaba (no relation to the Swedish pop group, I guess!) but I have had a few run-ins with ants over the years!
It's been a fun time doing this alphabet thing!

I have never ever heard of the Abba Dabba bar. That really surprises me since I am a huge candy eater. Emphasis on HUGE!
