the best good news.........
Andrew saw his urologist last week to find some resolve about his terrible pain that had him in the ER
According to his dad, this is what they discovered:
"Doctor feels one of his chemos, cytoxan, damaged his bladder causing hemorrhagic cystitis - a bleeding condition that is worsened when he does not hydrate enough. His urine gets particulates that act like sandpaper causing bladder irritation and pain. Hopefully hydrating him more will help. Thank you friends for all the prayers, emails, notes and concern over the last week or so!"
So, Andrew has to drink, drink, drink and stay hydrated. Hopefully this will help prevent the pain.
Besides that, he has to get some more Cub Scout camping trips under his belt with his dad.
Who wouldn't want to be at their campsite when dad and Andrew make cinnamon french toast, bacon and hot chocolate for breakfast. Are scouts allowed to use butane stoves? Aren't they supposed to rub two sticks together and cook over a fire?
Catching frogs on the endangered species list is OK as long as you are a certified Cub Scout, and you release it back into the wild after the photo shoot!

Glad the diagnosis comes with an easy treatment! Love camping trips. And frogs.
So thankful : )
He is the cutest little camper around.
That is good news .. is this something that will eventually go away or will he need to keep drinking an ocean of water/liquids for ever?
OH, that is great news!!!!
I always cooked on the butane with my scouts, it is totally acceptable. The fire is really only good for s'mores!
That is just "super" news! I'm glad to hear it. m.
I'm glad to her the good news. I hope he is feeling much better very soon.
Thrilledddddd!!!
Yeaaaaaa! How old is Andrew now and where 'bouts does he live? I mean in proximity to you.
PS I like your new digs!
Such good news!! Happy to hear of this outcome for you and your family.
The camp pics make me miss the old days when I was a Girl Scout leader. I'm sure they had fun camping.
(....pssst....pretty sure that's a toad and not a frog..)
Uh.....there is nothing good about this news. Hemorrhagic Cystitis is a very painful and very serious condition. It is damage to the bladder that is very hard to heal. Overtime it can lead to malignancy.
