COUNT ME IN

When the New Year made it's debut, Big Hair Envy, decided Grandma J needed to lose weight to
host something called the first South Beach Blogger Butt Smackdown. Not be be confused with a South Beach Blogger Vacation. No, a Butt Smackdown is a kinder gentler way of saying diet.

So here's how it works. If you sign up on the South Beach site, and create an account for just $5.00 per week, you get all kinds of benefits.....like a daily newsletter, menu plans and a shopping list. You can also track your progress, and schmooze with your "Beach Buddies". The thought of joining was a bit of Déjà vu...like when you play with your
Webkinz.

I saw all the other bloggers saying stuff like "count me in", or "I'm ready", "I'm scared, but I'll do it", "I'm sooooo ready to do this", and finally, "I'll have a beer because it's five o'clock somewhere". This is where I start to make the hard choice of jumping in with both feet. I decide to do the Atkins diet....not much different, but one I know will work for me once I commit to it.

Off to Walmart to buy a scale...a nice one. It measures body fat mass, and hydro stuff as well as pounds. Since I've gain 1/2 ton in the two and a half years since I quit smoking, I was sure that I had all those components. I spent a couple of hours trying to program the thing. Once I thought I was done, I kept getting a huge "E", which is short for ERROR.

Back to the instructions.....the scale kept wanting me to program persons 2 thru 6, and there was no getting around it. By eleven o'clock at night, I was back at Walmart, getting a cheaper scale....one that would allow me to be a one girl team.

That was Sunday.

I also bought all my meat, cheese, eggs and green veggies. For dessert I have a plethora of flavors of sugar free jello.

I've been doing two fifteen minute exercise sessions a day.

Now I can tell the Host of the South Beach Blogger Spank My Fanny Butt Smackdown,

"Count me in!"

You go, girl! Also, if you just did two five minute walks right after you did your 15-minute Whatevers, and then build up from there, you will be getting some cardio in there. Trust me, walking is a GREAT exercise. (Not that I did any today, but still.)

You can do it. (I can't.)

Go Grandma J!

Where were you guys last June when I started my shed 30 pound diet? BUT I have managed to keep it off....even though I haven't ridden my bike to work in 2 weeks now because it is either raining or icy...but the promise of sun is on its way!

Do you have a Trader Joes? They have some good low-cal foods.

Good for you, Grandma J! I'm back to the gym myself. No diet though.

That nurse has elephant legs, and those feet of hers are enormous.

Good for you!!!!
I hope it helps and you feel better in the long run...quitting smoking is the BEST thing you did, even if it means gaining some lbs.

I was thinking working with that first scale would be workout enough for me.
I have been eating less, just not sensible...gotta start somewhere..Haha
I had better get busy though because Florida is calling me.

Yeah, go for it. What do you have to lose? HaHa!

I did the Atkins thing a fews years back and it will work. Make sure to keep up that exercise and drink plenty of water.

You ROCK Grandma J!! Just think how HAWT you will be when you arrive at the Blogapalooza;)

I'm starting to get into the groove with this whole diet thing; although, I AM counting the days until I can drink a glass of wine (11).

I'm struggling with designing a sidebar large enough to include all of the participants....I may just have to post about everyone, and then have a link on the sidebar. I would then update the post every Monday. Any suggestions?

I did Atkins seriously and joined Curves. You should definitely find a Curves, you will LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I lost 80 lbs. in a year. Now, I am off the Atkins and have 40 of that 80 back. So, I started the Atkins back up again and focusing on Curves for excercise not just gossip. Curves is 30 minutes and it is so simple, 30 seconds of Cardio and 30 seconds of strength training---a little lady in the music tells you when to move stations & there are just women there. No men (you may not like it afterall, haha) and no itty-bitty 20 year old girls in leotards. :)

You make me so proud : ). So funny that the scale wanted more people entered. You should have stuck Phillip Johnny Bob on there. Does he need to lose a pound of fluff?
