Grandma J Does Dallas

Yesterday, according to the Roman, Lunar and Ancient Egyptian calendars, was Thursday, and two old ladies the general consensus indicated that it was probably a good day to travel to the big city shop without major logistical problems like bumper to bumper traffic from Waco to Dallas. For all foreigners and G-20 attendees non-Texans, that would be a stretch of about 90 miles.

Here's some good advice....If you ever decide to go big mall and outlet shopping because you think you miss variety and long traffic jams, and you long for the hustle and bustle of a big city, don't go anywhere within a 50 mile radius of Ft. Worth Texas.....which of course would include Tokyo Dallas, just don't do it.

Somewhere in that mix is the Texas Motor Speedway, and let me just say, even if your last wish here on earth is to attend the NASCAR event called The Samsung 500, don't even try unless you make travel plans three weeks in advance...just saying.

Shoppers heading anywhere near that venue, need to heed the same advice because you will end up trying to find a hotel room to rest from the exhausting road trip. Of course that means by the time that happens, you are too tired to shop until the following day.

A zillion motorhomes were on the road. They came from everywhere but for sure, the Texans had the upper hand on premium parking spaces at Home Depot. Which is no where near the NASCAR venue.

Oh, so you are saying you had traffic???? Is that it????

I am sorry to hear you did not have a good time.
Had you hopped in an airplane and landed in Fort Myers yesterday....well then we could have had LOTS of shopping done with little traffic. Ok, just a bit of traffic...but I would have driven you.....I am just sayin'.

Glad you made it home safe and sound.

Traffic! Yikes. With Nascar fans? That spells disaster! Online shopping sounds really nice at times like that. ;-)

Oh! Did you travel in that fancy bull camo RV? WoW! You could haul a lot of shopping bags in there! Hope you still had a great time!

I would love to come to Texas for that race, but now I am scared. I hate traffic...hate it.

But did you eventually have a nice day?

That motorhome should be towed away, never to see another road trip or tailgate party.

Sorry to hear your adventure was gobbled up by traffic, but I'm glad to hear from you. I was aware you were going shopping in Dallas but somehow missed the boat on the spending the night away from home thing.

What did you buy? Anything for Phillip Johnny Bob? I don't go shopping any more, unless you count cat food and water softener salt, and I don't, so I'd love to hear.

That RV is HOT : ). Texas HOT! I wonder if you should spend part of the grandchildren's inheritance on an RV. Can you imagine if you went from place to place in your RV and blogged along the way? That would be amazing. I wish we could make you into a reality show. I would watch every week!
