One Silver, One Gold

The Silver was for the Long Jump, The Gold is for the 200 meter.

Grandma J's granddaughter...OK, so it's really JJ's sister, participated in the Texas A&M Consolidated Track Meet, District 12 AAAAA Division, last week. Since it's a three hour ride each way, and Grandma's can't ride on the team bus and we had torrential rain forecast here in Central Texas, we missed it.

Today, I went over to get a few pictures to send to 1SGT John in Iraq. I don't have any stats, but two years ago in 7th grade, Grandma J's granddaughter jumped 16' 4" and broke the middle school record. Now she's on the JV team in HS. Unfortunately the papers only put Varsity stats, and some athletes when questioned say, "I don't know", as a standard answer to grandmothers.

OK, that's enough pictures!

Then A-Ron jumps in and says "One more!"

So one more it is!

For someone that young, that's a great jump. When I was a junior or senior in high school, my best was a little over 18' but that was a fluke. Most were in the 16's and 17's.

Good for her! And gold in the 200? (or 220 as we used to call it back in the days before meters) that's GREAT.

how about that grandma j!!... you are going to need to get you a trophy room started, she still has three more years of high school left... (and beyond!).... p.s. was the meet held on the a&m campus? if so that had to be a great thrill to compete at those facilities too!

CBW, She is just getting back into track after taking a year off. I doubt if she jumped 16' last week, but she's a freshman and has time to train.
Pat, yes, the meet was on the A&M campus. Two years ago she went to the Jr. Olympic trials in Orlando, but unfortunately ended up in the hospital dehydrated.....a lesson learned.

MPM, the dog is my JJ, well, not really mine but don't tell him that.
Thank you to everyone who thinks she's beautiful...it's the genes, one generation removed...HA!

WOW! JJ's sister is quite the athlete...and quite the beauty!!

Notice how JJ sits all prissy when he's with his sis, and how he gets all laid-back-and-sporty when his brother shows up??? Coincidence? I think NOT! Is that a new text message on A-Ron's cell phone?? HEEHEE!

I was a pain in the neck little brother just like A-Ron. What I mean is, I wanted to be with my big sister all the time as a kid.

Now, big sister wants to be with little brother, who's not so little and who's better connected.

I am so proud of her. I adore A Ron. And well, you know how I feel about JJ. He stole my heart a very long time ago : ).

She is a super star that girl. Oh yes she is. She is beautiful. Just like her Grandma : ).
