My beautiful, athletic granddaughter.....
Loved basketball, but .......
She quit shooting hoops.
And running track, and winning metals galore....
Was not uncommon when she lived in Texas.
But last summer the family up and moved to Arizona. All of a sudden, like almost overnight, but not quite......
She traded in her athletic gear for varsity cheer leading. The cool part is, it's at her Dad's Alma Mater in AZ. JJ and I can hardly wait to visit and go to the homecoming game again this year and watch her cheer.
But......tonight it's all about the dress and the stilettos......
It's prom night.
And she's going with the girls.
XOXO Grandma J

A Summer Saturday
Grandma J could have traveled to Giddings Texas for a AAU Track Meet that her granddaughter was competing in, or stayed on the home front with A-Ron who had morning baseball practice.

So she stayed home and took A-Ron to practice, and her middle daughter went to Giddings for the track meet.
Practice ended at one, and we headed straight to McD's for A-Ron's lunch because Grandma J had a salad at home....BUT! They decided not to go home, but headed straight for the theatre to see a movie.

We both agreed that Land Of The Lost sounded good. Grandma J was a bit leery because we all know about Will Ferrell and his language can be pretty raunchy, but the movie was rated PG, and A-Ron isn't a baby anymore....

He treated his grandma to ice cream at $3.50 a scoop. She had a double scoop of butter pecan.

Since they still had over 30 minutes before the show started, they grabbed a table to sit and eat their ice cream......yeah, by they, Grandma J means she....because A-Ron wandered off.

To play arcade games. ummmm hello, your ice cream is melting.

And at what age do boys lean over an empty cup to catch the drippings?
So, who wants to know about the movie?
I was hoping no one would ask because I can't even begin to review this movie. It was probably budgeted at $9.95 and their was some change left over. It was terrible......the story line was about traveling in time, but not back in time or forward in time, but sideways in time.
The cast of four, and one being a monkey-ish person/thing, ran from one scene to another, being chased or dousing themselves in dinosaur urine. Honestly it was so bad Grandma J caught A-Ron with his shirt pulled up over his head so he could text someone....he was bored.
Here....take a look......

One Silver, One Gold

The Silver was for the Long Jump, The Gold is for the 200 meter.

Grandma J's granddaughter...OK, so it's really JJ's sister, participated in the Texas A&M Consolidated Track Meet, District 12 AAAAA Division, last week. Since it's a three hour ride each way,and Grandma's can't ride on the team bus and we had torrential rain forecast here in Central Texas, we missed it.

Today, I went over to get a few pictures to send to 1SGT John in Iraq. I don't have any stats, but two years ago in 7th grade, Grandma J's granddaughter jumped 16' 4" and broke the middle school record. Now she's on the JV team in HS. Unfortunately the papers only put Varsity stats, and some athletes when questioned say, "I don't know", as a standard answer to grandmothers.

It Only Cost A Buck
I have been extremely busy lately. My phone had some software issues and I've been back and forth to the AT&T store trying to resolve the problem. Finally, since it's under warranty, AT&T sent me a new one. Lucky for me, I'm too lazy to mess with registering it and copying files....blah, blah, blah, so I took it to the AT&T store so they could assist me. On a side note, I found that I have an advantage being older, in fact it pays to say you are older than you actually are. The older you are, the more those guys are so willing to help. They even offered to send the old one back for me.
So then I sat in my car for over an hour trying to get my phone synced to my car's Sync....with no luck. The user's manual was at home, so I had to wait.
I moseyed over to the Dollar Tree Store.....a new favorite, but not quite as wonderful as the 99¢ Store...still, I love going up and down the aisles getting bargains.
How about Duct Tape? Seriously, this is a bargain. I mean with ten yards of duct tape you could make a prom dress or something.

These bubble pack mailers are a steal @ 2 per pack. I use a ton of these and they are over $1 each at Walmart.
I love these heat patches for my lower back 2 pk again!

But 50¢ makes them something I can't pass up. And....look closely, they are from Chesapeake VA. Who wudda guessed?
I spent the evening....from 6:00 - 9:30 at a track meet...in 44 degrees with winds at 18 mph. Believe me, as soon as my granddaughter crossed that finish line, I cheered, then left! I'm so not a team player.

REMEMBER THIS?

I never saw the side of this Dallas Cowboy Pimp Mobile...until yesterday. I went whizzing by the Bingo hall, in the early afternoon, and lo and behold I almost lost it right there......because I really thought the hood and trunk were over the top.
I was wrong. This is the side. I could hardly believe my eyes.....and I had to go down the road a bit before I could hang a U. When I pulled in the parking lot, the owner started towards the door, so I only got this one shot. I mean the place doesn't open until 5 or 6 in the evening, and this was the only car there...right in front of the door.

And these roses on the windows! Nice touch!
Now, I'm off to take a certain someone to track practice, then to get her driver's permit. Say a prayer...

Blowing In The Wind

I spent today at a track meet. Yesterday the temperature was in the 80's.....today it was in the low 50's....with the wind blowing at 30mph...and more!

My granddaughter..yes the one who plays basketball, ran the 100, 200, and 400 meter events. Is that what you call them? She also did the long jump.

PICK UPS
I frequently get calls for pick ups.
Sometimes it's because someone has to get picked up at the high school right after track practice. This is extremely urgent because said track star works....and work consists of score keeping at another sports venue for a pretty penny.
Then there are the remote, ever so important calls to pick up JJ at the groomers.
The Top Dog Care Package includes toothbrushing, health enhancing shampoo, remoisturizing conditioner and breath freshener....with the purchase of a bath or groom. Does anyone notice that JJ did not get the complimentary bandana? I think a call to PetSmart is in order.

OUCH!
Some people never learn. NEVER.
I attended my granddaughter's first track meet on Saturday. If you've never attended a track meet, it's an all day affair with action going on everywhere. Did I mention that it lasts ALL DAY?
My granddaughter is tall, slender and an athlete.....a super all around athlete. She is only in 8th grade but excels at several sports. Not that I would brag, but just letting you know, she was participating in several events...thus it really was ALL DAY for me....um her.
When I arrive in the morning, it was 54 degrees out. I wore a long sleeve polo type shirt. It was a bit nippy but it wasn't bad. It ended up getting pretty warm....really warm...HOT.
When I got home, I had a sun burn that wrapped around my neck...all the way around. By Sunday morning my neck looked like a red balloon. So..there you have it. I stayed in all day Sunday....no church...nothing!
I played with my new toy...loading all my music and setting my radio stations.
This is the toy I bought on impulse because I felt goofy carrying my boom box with my on my power walks (in my jamas). It's also the toy that the cashier at Wally World commented..."hmmm what made her buy a Walkman". I mean...the Wally Guy in electronics told me it was his first choice. Should have gone to Best Buy. Still, I like it.
Then I made these.

I hope to have about 30 made by Christmas for these kids .
After all this rambling, I will share a little secret......yesterday? I stayed topless. Today? More of the same. My neck still hurts....I have no shame.
