William "Billy" D. Mays, Jr.
July 20, 1958 - June 28, 2009

You can say what you want about Jacko, but the world lost a real icon today.....Billy Mays.

A day doesn't go by that Grandma J doesn't think about Billy Mays as she breaks out her Oxyclean or Orange Glo....and recently it's the Hercules Hooks that have been front and center as she decorates her new digs at the Spa.

And Really? Have you tried KABOOM?
Yes, Billy is an Icon with a uppercase I and he will be missed by anyone who drips food down the front of their shirts or clogs their toilets, has experienced the amazing products he invented.

RIP Billy Mays, Grandma J will miss you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a happier note!
It's Baby Girl's Birthday!
That's right, once again, Grandma J's youngest child is celebrating a birthday. Baby Girl Lives in Colorado, and has a wonderful husband and two gorgeous guys....
BILLY MAY I?
Billy Mays is a TV infomercial icon. The first time I saw him was on the Home Shopping Network or QVC, I really can't remember which show it was. He was probably hawking the Ginsu knife or the vegamatic thing...it doesn't matter.
Over the years Billy has endorsed and demonstrated everything from Oxy stuff, to Orange stuff, to Hercules Hooks, Silly Putty stuff, kaboom stuff, weed whackers, clothes steamers, windshield repair goop, snake oil, and who knows, zillions of other things. Not only does he demonstrate this stuff, but it all seems to work great when he does it. His commercials are aired at a high decibel with his booming voice jolting me out of a sound sleep a dozen times a night.
Somewhere along the road to success, and in the middle of eating a blooming onion, Billy became the CEO of his own company. He recently ventured out and became the pitchman for Health Insurance! For cripes sakes, his plan beats the socks of of Hillary-care or Obama-care. Billy makes more money than the e-trade baby and he has more clout.
I'm thinking of trying this handy dandy product that Billy is hawking. It's the Big City Slider.
Who has this? Anyone? My only hesitation is finding itty bitty hamburger buns. On the other hand, I wonder if I can use my cupcake pan to make these cute buggers. What do you think?
I worry about Billy Mays, because he's getting older, and lately he can't do the things a younger Billy used to do. Just the other night I was watching him demonstrate how to clean a tub with Oxy Stuff
....and he nearly killed himself.
Then the producers were getting mad because Billy Mays kept screwing up his lines, and got downright ticked. He started acting bizarre.....
His new products were going a bit over the top.
And they weren't playing well despite Billy's charming ways. I heard a rumor that Billy wants to change directions in his career. He's been picked to star in a reality show.
Billy Mays is the new Bachelor!
BB10 news......did everyone see Jerry fall in the pool? I want them to show him putting his boogers under the cushions in the patio furniture, but they won't...darn it.
*EMERGENCY ALERT*
This may not apply to you.....
please don't send me any more testimonials on the YOU.KNOW.WHAT super absorbent pieces of crap that Vince sells.
My site meter is off the charts. I guess what I really mean is Thank you dlisted.com, because as of 11:30 this morning ....well, I can only check the last hundred hits but quite a few, if not most are for YOU.KNOW WHAT...linked from dlisted.com.
I will say I'm pleased that some people are actually reading more that my humble testimonial, and reading other posts. I must also say that there are some bloggers out there that are a little green around the gills. Hey, I'm trying to be a good consumer by giving testimonials on products that I like and dislike.
So just be forewarned that if you do a testimonial on anything Vince pitches, or Debbie Meyer, or God forbid Billy Mays....watch out. I'm talking to you Green Bag advocate!
*If you came here via dlisted pull up a chair and stay a while. You can join my aqua aerobics here at the compound, meet JJ the wonder dog, or the Women Yearning For Zion. A real bonus is the hilarious Grandma Joy on YouTube.
SCAM THE SHAM...WOW!
I did it, yep, After watching his demonstration for months, I fell prey to the charms of Vince the Shamwow pitch guy. This never happened with Billy Mays and his Oxy Clean, even though I did buy his Hercules Hooks.
Maybe because Vince told me I waste twenty dollars a month on paper towels, and for that same twenty dollars I could have eight Shamwows. These Shamwows are guaranteed to last ten years! It's not like I ever have to soak up a two liter bottle of soda from my carpet or anything, but to think I'd never have to buy paper towels again made me wonder what I'd do with all those Bounty coupons my three paper holders.
For some reason I put all my faith and trust in this weirdo with the sloppy mowhawk and crappy looking headset.
My Shamows arrived Friday, and all I could say is "WOW" since I was hanging with my favorite guy, JJ this weekend, I thought I'd give them a try. We went to the drive through carwash because it drives JJ crazy...he runs from window to window, trying to catch the flow of water or suds as the nozzle arm rotates around the car.
When the wash ended, I pulled into a shady stall, got out with my Shamwow, and started to show off dry my car. Honestly, I couldn't believe what a disappointment it was. There was some weird lint all over my car, and it streaked my windows. I threw the Shamwow in the trash recepticle, and opened my tailgate to get my trusty shammy and microfiber cloth for my windows.
All of a sudden I saw this lady walk over to the trash and look in. She saw that I was watching her, and asked me if that was a Shamwow that I just threw away. I said yes it was. She asked if I minded if she retrieved it, and I told her not at all. I told her that she'd be disappointed because it leaves lint all over your car. She said she doesn't use them on her car. Guess what she uses them for? No, not her spills....are you ready for this? She uses them in her son's diapers pocket liner (or is it liner pocket?) at night because he's a heavy wetter. I couldn't believe my ears, and I almost gave her my other Shamwows but decided it may not be in her son's best interest.
