Driving Me Crazy

Does everyone remember way back in time when Grandma J was still a productive member of society went on a rant about a commercial that drove her up a wall?

This one from Stanley Steemer about Toby the dog, showing everyone his new trick.  The commercial was clever and funny, but the shrieking scream from Toby's human mommy was annoying.

Well, the latest commercial that drives Grandma J crazy it the one from Travelocity.......

Where the husband tells his wife she looks like a beach angel, causing her to scream at the top of her lungs.

People....its the scream that drives Grandma J crazy.  Just like it was the woman screaming at poor Toby.
Is there a commercial that drives YOU up a wall?  Besides the Colon Lady that is.

What Price Fame?

If you were an actress, and you got a call from a central casting to do a commercial for a pharmacutical company, how excited would you be?

What about doing a commercial for a product like Phillips Colon Health products?   Ok, it's really almost a PSA but with a pay check.

Taking care of ones colon is a serious matter.  God only knows that Grandma J makes no bones about taking care of her colon by getting it reamed scoped every few years.

Now let's say you signed on with Phillips, and go on a whirlwind tour promoting their colon cleansing products.   Kind of like when Pioneer Woman jets around the country promoting her book at signings and on all the daytime TV shows.......

And, how fun would it be to see your face plastered on the walls of the airport terminal as you walk along on the people mover.....similar to the Geico Apes.

And look how special you are with your very own Purple Colon Health carry-on bag?  Grandma J just loves free  corporate gifts.

And the excitement would never end when stranger's come running up to you!

WOMAN: You’re the colon lady!

COLON LADY (grinning from ear to ear): Diarrhea constipation gas bloating that’s me!

Then, you proceed to hand out samples of Phillips Colon Cleansing kits!

Here's a short clip of The Colon Lady as she proudly boasts about her new identity...

This is almost as irritating as the woman who yells....at Toby's new trick!

SOME THINGS DRIVE ME NUTS!

I have a really bad habit of having at least two energy efficient TVs on all day long. They have to be on the same channel so I don't go batty as I sashay from room to room doing my chores. Basically it's all news, nothing I have to watch, just listen.

So, since I don't have to share get to pick what's on, you're wondering what drives me nuts, right? It's commercials. Not all commercials. Some are cute, some are informative, and others drive me crazy.

I've told you how I feel about Vince of ShamWow fame, and even more so after his arrest for almost biting that prostitute's tongue off.

Then they was that women screeching TOBY! as her dog drags his butt across her carpet.

NOW.....I've had it up to here ^^^ with the Verizon Commercial that plays every twelve minutes all day long.

*Please note, I muted the sound on the commercial to take the pictures....

you know, the one with Devon, Mr. fear of commitment.

And Cindy, who finds his Verizon wireless network dependency weird.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the Capital One commercial? Yeah, the Spaghetti Jimmy wins.... saying, "What's in your wallet?"

Is there a commercial that drives you nuts?

IT DOESN'T LEAVE PIECES

I like commercials. Not all commercials, but the ones that go over the top to get your attention with catchy phrases or visual images that become timeless, and when you hear them or see them you automatically know the product.

For instance "You're In Good Hands" - Allstate; "Can you hear me now?" - Verison; "It's finger lickn good" - KFC. Visuals would be things like the Energizer Bunny beating his drum, or the Purina cat doing the cha-cha. One that I thought was timeless; "Please don't squeeze the Charmn'". I know Mr. Whipple died, may he rest in peace, but the catchy phrase stuck around didn't it?

Yesterday a Charmn' commercial, one that I've seen often, but never really paid much attention to, had a phrase that struck me funny.

Funny as in, Who came up with that phrase? The phrase I'm speaking of is, "It doesn't leave pieces." The animated commercial shows an adult bear noticing "pieces" of toilet paper on a cubs bum, and scrubs them off with a push broom.
Now I like Charmn' toilet paper, it's soft and feels like it's bathed in lotion. I don't mind paying more either because I live alone, and don't have a house full of people who need half a roll a day to stay "fresh". I did some checking to see just how far Proctor and Gamble would go to promote a product. How about their own friggin bathrooms....be honest, don't you think this "visual" of the two bears squirming to keep from wetting themselves cute?

Or, how about this? Instead of a family picture on your Merry Christmas Card, you can have a Charmn' Christmas picture on your cards.

Oh, and finally, for those of you who are super-saver shoppers, here's a little something for you.
