Happy Birthday Turtle!

Her Dad gave her that nickname, and now Grandma J will call her oldest Granddaughter Turtle on her blog.

Don't ask me how this happened, but Turtle turns 17 today. She was born in California, but transplanted to Florida. Even though for most of those years she was on opposite coast from her grandma, we always saw each other often.

This is Turtle's kindergarten picture. One of my favorite pictures of her.

These cousins have shared many Christmases together...

Here's Turtle with Grandma J and her (blind in one eye) dog, Charlie, that same Christmas, (1994)

Connecting for another memorable Christmas and remain good friends .

They have traveled to California from Texas and Florida for summer fun on Catalina Island with their favorite grandma.

Turtle and her dad are best of friends. Her dad even got a small tattoo of a turtle, which makes Grandma J thankful that he didn't nickname his daughter "Princess". I love they way they still hold hands at Disney.

Grandma J's granddaughter loves to surf on both coasts.

Here she is with her dad and younger brother. She's becoming such a beautiful young lady.

The same two goofballs on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe on New Years Day.

I love you Turtle, and I miss you too. So, since I can't be with you in California for your birthday, I want to send you lots of love and a recipe for Turtle Candy. The same ones your Dad buys you every year....but this year maybe he will make you some! Ummm, yeah, let me know if that happens.

WE'RE AT THE GATE........

.....which was in response to, "let me know when you get to the gate".

Don't you just love the way I explain stuff so that it makes absolutely no sense?

Yeah, it's text talk, and it started like this, picture it......

Grandma J is watching nothing important on TV, in her skivvies jammies, when out of the blue she gets a text message from her granddaughter..

"hey what are you doing right now"

Me texting back, "nothing special, why?"

Granddaughter, "we're on our way over"

Me, "WTF? Right now?"

Granddaughter, "yeah, we're almost there, I'll let you know when we get to the gate."

So, I scramble to find my bra get dressed, hide the bottle of gin, and take a swig of listerine. When they arrive at the gate, I run out with my remote and the car behind them let them in.

Here are the divas, in a New Tahoe!

The boys are in the back, and they tell me to go back in and get some shoes on so we can go out to dinner!

My grandson, in his moonshoes high tech sneakers...and I'm sure that's not what he'd call them, ducks the camera.

We had a nice dinner at Chili's and talked about the new Tahoe. They didn't buy it, they were on a test drive. Huh? shouldn't we be getting it back to the dealership? Evidently they were keeping it overnight....and they took it off the lot on Sunday! A two day test drive?

Maybe they can take one of these on a two day test drive.
