The Postman Cometh

Yesterday I received a much anticipated package. The sender said it should be here by Friday, but I knew better. This Compound I live in is deep in the heart of Texas....land of wide open spaces and slow mail service. What that means is I wasn't disappointed at all when it didn't arrive on Friday. I was hopeful for Saturday, but thought Monday was the more likely day of arrival.

I was delighted to see it when it arrived on Saturday!!

There was an inner envelope...which heightened my enthusiasm.....Flat Caroline was finally here!

YES! Isn't she cute? But there was another surprise. Something homemade, and personalized for Phillip Johnny Bob!

Marey at hijk made him an Easter scarf with his initials embroidered on it...and a border of ribbon that said Easter Blessings! So friggin perfect for Phil to wear this Easter.

Then PJB read the instructions for Flat Caroline. We have to take her to meet JJ and maybe go somewhere very Texas, then send a postcard to Caroline's school and a picture of her here doing something Texas-ish.

Monday, Flat Caroline will be headed to the warm Gulf of Mexico for a visit with Suz. If Suz still can't get her garage open then Flat Caroline can ride around town with Cocoa and Ozzie on the Dyson.

Love his bandana...he needs a bear quilt doesn't he?

That is such a cute idea about Flat Caroline...I look forward to her adventures.

The neice of a girl I work with had to do that. This little one went on quite an adventure. That's such a neat concept. Great bandana by the way. I'll have to introduce PJB to my Kenzie Tennis Bear.

Phillip JOhnny Bob is really collecting quite the wardrobe.

When my daughter was in kindergarten she had to bring home the class stuffed animal (a dog) and carry it with her everywhere, then document its activity. He went to an amusement park (but was left to bake in the car) and on a boat ride.

He liked the boat ride much better than baking in the parked car.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts about spring coming. I love spring and everything associated with it...including all the storms when they start.

PJB might enjoy visiting Salado. It is close to where you live. It was a stagecoach stop and the inn is original, and the menu is still exactly the same as when we used to stop there on our way to Port Aransas a hunnerd years ago. Our kids were impressed with place, probably because we were. The town has built a lot of shops around there, but when we were there last fall we didn't tarry to shop any.

Welcome to Texas the bluebonnets will bloom before long and that is a sight to behold. I was born in Texas and will no doubt die here. It is my home and I love it...slow mail or not. Stop by anytime there is always a cup of coffee and some cookies for you at my blog.

You crack me UP!!!!
I can't wait to see Flat Caroline...I have some plans already for her. I did get the car out...so Rosie will stay in her china cabinet, I mean closet.

If she gets here before Friday, she can see the gulf of mexico and the ATLANTIC ocean...we are headed to the East coast.

Love PJB's scarf, so cute. I think he needs a bonnet for sunday services though. :)
Take care, suz

I had to do the same thing for a friend's daughter, although I had the pleasure of hosting Flat Stanley! I took him all over charleston including out to dinner. What a pain waiting for a table for 3!!

...I sent my niece your blog so she can see herself at your place...and even more funny, I was going to write "THE COMPOUND" on the envelope with the address, but didn't!!

When I taught 3rd grade, we did Flat Stanley with the kids. For the kids who didn't know anyone outside of Houston (which was a considerable amount), I had friends all over the world they sent their letters and flat people too. Then we put up a huge map and tracked the people and showed the postcards. My students LOVED it! Glad you are getting to help out.

grandma....you will be amazed (beyond amazed!) at what you can do with the tempering machine...AND how quick and easy it is, seriously. You will never make anything with a fake, waxy chocolate-flavored wafer again. You can make beautiful candies...I make bark with the girl scout groups, you can dip anything in it (strawberries, cupcakes, etc) and have it harden with a beautiful sheen...AND, it's real chocolate! You'll use it weekly, I know you!
