Saying Goodnight in Texas

Honestly,  Grandma J hasn't lived in Texas that long.....actually it's been four years since she left the OC to live smack dab in the middle of Texas.

She has blogged about how over the top Texans are about everything Texas.   It's not to dis the Great State of Texas, and yes we capitalize that, it's just that no other state gets so crazy about it's shape or size or...well they just don't go crazy.

My Connecticut friend  was served this awesome waffle when she got stranded in Texas recently.   You will never find a waffle shaped like Arkansas or Rhode Island.

Eons ago, when Grandma J was a newbie in Texas, she was shocked to see so much Texas stuff at Bed Bath and Beyond.  Like this complete bed ensemble.

She has always been content with average everyday bed linens.  Seriously it's just a bed!!

Just recently Grandma J was in Bed Bath and Beyond looking for some candles and other miscellaneous doodads, when she happened to circle the corner into the bedding department.

Whoa Nelly!   Was there a whole lot of Texas going on......

Kinda of blah, but still Texas..ish

This would be perfect at Rawhide Ranch....it looks like real cowhide, and it feels like suede.  Of course Grandma J has never seen real cowhide, so she made that part up.

If she had to go Texan, this one would be it.  But really?  Can you fathom a national chain having four bedding themes for your state?

If Today is Friday.......

Then it's time for a matinee!

I went to see G-Force and well, let's just say I did it to make MariaV happy. Hopefully she reads this review before shelling out any cash on this one.

Since Grandma J is busy babysitting JJ at his house all week, because she is too cheap to pay a $500 pet deposit just so JJ can have sleepovers at The Spa she hasn't had much time to go into a whole lot of detail in her blog posts lately.

Her daughter doesn't have high speed internet, but some kind of Clear Wire wifi that's protected and private....and no one is there to help GJ get on-line. So that's my excuse for saying G-Force sucked big time. SER.I.OUS.LY

The movie was....boring, predictable and irritating. Grandma J kept telling herself to get a grip because two of the three toddlers in the theatre thought it was hilarious, and since the movie must have been geared towards that age group, what's there to complain about.

Still....the movie couldn't end too soon.

In a positive note....Grandma J loved the female diva guinea pig named Juarez. Voice over by Penelope Cruz. She was funny and a sexy little thing....

Do you know who is funnier?

This guy! If Grandma J were him, she'd give G-Force One Flag...but since shes not...she's give the movie one set of six flags....representing the six flags that officially flew over the great state of Texas.

Friday....the late night edition

This will be short and not so sweet, and Grandma J could have easily used the title: "Busted, partie deux". But that wasn't necessary, because a picture is worth a thousand words, and Grandma J knows all about stuff like that.

Picture number one

Picture number two........explaining picture number one.

Stay tuned.....for detailed instructions on how to turn a speeding ticket into a warning, Grandma J style.

*or let me know if you think you know Grandma J's tricks.

The Postman Cometh

Yesterday I received a much anticipated package. The sender said it should be here by Friday, but I knew better. This Compound I live in is deep in the heart of Texas....land of wide open spaces and slow mail service. What that means is I wasn't disappointed at all when it didn't arrive on Friday. I was hopeful for Saturday, but thought Monday was the more likely day of arrival.

I was delighted to see it when it arrived on Saturday!!

There was an inner envelope...which heightened my enthusiasm.....Flat Caroline was finally here!

YES! Isn't she cute? But there was another surprise. Something homemade, and personalized for Phillip Johnny Bob!

Marey at hijk made him an Easter scarf with his initials embroidered on it...and a border of ribbon that said Easter Blessings! So friggin perfect for Phil to wear this Easter.

Then PJB read the instructions for Flat Caroline. We have to take her to meet JJ and maybe go somewhere very Texas, then send a postcard to Caroline's school and a picture of her here doing something Texas-ish.

Monday, Flat Caroline will be headed to the warm Gulf of Mexico for a visit with Suz. If Suz still can't get her garage open then Flat Caroline can ride around town with Cocoa and Ozzie on the Dyson.

YOO HOO, I'm Back

My doctor's visit was pretty routine. You know...the usual get your vitals taken, then follow the nurse to door number three. Remember, this is a new doctor for me, my fourth...and not the one I expected.

After listening to my boobs heart, he went over my meds, and left.

That freed up my day enough that I could go shopping. I bought a new Fossil Purse, and then headed on out to one of my favorite stores..

Bed Bath and Beyond, again. There is one thing that drives me crazy, and this is where I go absolutely insane...

....when I see stuff like this. Please God, what is it about Texas? I mean they don't have an ocean, or mountains or Mickey Mouse!

You would never see this in a store...anywhere....ever!

So I bought this! And if I can stomach it, I will watch the second night of "After The Rose" while I sand exfoliate my mustache. Maybe someone will shoot Jason, or at least hurt him so we can watch him cry like a little girl again.
