YOU'VE GOT MAIL!
....good mail

That's what the mailman said to me yesterday, in front of a bunch of jealous residents here at The Compound.

First of all, I got something from Virginia. It's from one of my favorite
East Coast bloggers... Are you ready for this? Are you sitting down?

It's a Happy Fall card from my BBF, Cooper! Can you believe he has photo cards for FAll? Can you believe he sent one to Grandma J? Thank you Cooper! I love you.

Next, I received my winning tote from
The Fishn Mama's recent contest!

Check out her blog, it's one of my favorites. Thank you,
The Fishn Mama!

Last but not least...I received a box. A big box.

It's my CPAP contraption that the doctor ordered after my sleep study. I used it last night, and I don't know if it worked or not because I woke up at 5:30 from my cell phone alarm going off. This happens whenever I use it to wake up, it goes off everyday there after! I didn't go to bed until 2 a.m., so this was very inconvenient. I eventually got up at 8 a.m. with welts on my cheeks from the mask straps, and the thing that goes in my nostrils stretched them out to double their size.....or that's how it felt.
I'll try it again tonight.

So...what did your mailman bring you?

SLEEPING IN THE PRINCESS ROOM

***Big Brother Update***
It was fantastic last night with April leaving! She can't wait to party with Libra...right! While I still like Renny, her actions and bold moves, like asking Dan, Keesha and Memphis if they would be pawns was a bit unsettling. Right now Dan is my favorite to win. That can change, but I don't think so. Does anyone else notice the close alliance that Michelle and Memphis have? I don't know if it's apparent on the show, or just from watching BBAD. The both are up to no good. The Head of Household comp was long! I won't give it away because several of you get totally ticked, so you'll find out Sunday night....not a word out of my lips...ummm blog.

Before driving up to Temple, the city between me and Wacko, home of the Dr. Pepper Museum.... for my sleep study, I joined a couple of my fellow inmates here at the compound neighbors for a late afternoon swim. (yes I'm the queen of run-on sentences) We weren't in the water ten minutes when the sky took an ugly turn...

You've seen those "Life comes at you fast" commercials? Well, that's exactly how storms come at you in Texas!

That was my cue to get on the road and head on out to my sleepover. I arrived right at 7 PM, and was met by Gary, my technician.

He escorted me to my room...the Princess Room. The other side of the room had a dresser, TV and my very own thermostat for climate control, and a nice big private bathroom. The ceiling had a smoked glass dome that encased a 360 degree camera. Gary told me that he could not see me in the bathroom....like I trust him.

Yeah, like I was born yesterday......I guess he didn't see my Big Brother tote bag!!

After a snack of fresh fruit, and filling out paperwork, waiving my right to sue the Hospital or Gary if I got hit by lightning or electrocuted, I was wired.

Is this not the scariest creature you've ever seen on a blog? I had Gary take this picture in the event my next of kin needed documentation. I had a zillion electrodes screwed into my scalp, my face had about thirty thousand wires taped to it, and things were shoved up my nostrils. My inner thighs were wired...and I had a laser light on my right pinkie.

I had no problem sleeping. The mattress was part memory foam and I could have stayed forever. In the morning Gary brought me a croissant and a cup of coffee. I love Gary, so I'm going back in two months.

I AM WOMAN HEAR ME SNORE...

My sleep study “sleepover” was something I asked for. Because when you retire and move to Texas you do things like that for excitement.

I wake myself up at night for no apparent reason, except to wake myself up. Once in a while I take advantage of the opportunity to go skinny dipping pee, or grab a snack.

Another reason is people say I snore. I have no documentation, and I wasn't sure I wanted to believe I could do such a thing, and if I did, who cares? But when my oldest granddaughter told me I scare the heck out of her at night, I thought maybe I did snore ….a bit.

So between waking up at night, and scaring the beegeezus out of little kids, I decided to submit myself to the humiliation of having my head all wired up, and a bunch of sadistic medical professional stare at me , watching my every move on a monitor all night.

What’s funny is some people are embarrassed by the whole snoring issue. I’m not one of them. I knew someone who refused to fall asleep on a transcontinental flight that was twelve hours long because she was embarrassed about snoring. Her husband would have to go to another room to get a good night’s sleep more often than naught. It was on the news one day that someone filed a complaint against a neighbor for snoring too loud……loud enough to be a nuisance. This made my unnamed subject paranoid, and we would tease her about her neighbors suing her.…yeah, we were bad.

On one overseas business trip for her husband, she did everything she could to stayed awake on the flight. She feared snoring and waking her fellow travelers on the flight. Once they got to the hotel, she fell asleep, but started snoring. Her husband had an early morning meeting with his superiors, and between jet lag and his wife’s snoring, he was getting ticked. Feeling bad, she wrapped herself in the bedspread, grabbed a pillow and went into the bathroom so her husband could get a few hours of sleep.

The bathroom acoustics were the worst case scenario. The tiled walls just amplified her snoring, making it even louder. Desperate to stop snoring, she decided to stuff toilet paper in her nose….I don’t know where this idea came from, but I’m sure she read somewhere that closing off her nose would stop the snoring. Well she kept packing it in, more tissue, then some more. It was so packed, that when she looked in the mirror, her nostrils where spread out, giving her a look similar to Miss Piggy.

For whatever reason, maybe moisture, or the tissue tearing…..she couldn't get the tissue out. Without all the embarrassing details the bottom line was she had to wake up her husband. She had to wake him up to help her unclog her nose. He wasn't much help…..she had to go to the ER to get the toilet paper out of her nose.

OK Big Brothers fans! Here is a picture of Renny when she was younger. I was holding off showing it to you until they showed her Head of Household pictures. This one wasn't among them.

Are you losing a bit of respect for Renny? Is she purposely playing mind games with her alliance? I'm at a loss trying to figure out what she's thinking. What is your take on her strategy?

I AM WOMAN HEAR ME SNORE

or as my oldest granddaughter said, "Grandma, you scare me"

So today I was up at the crack of dawn, heading 30 miles up the road to Temple Texas...which is half way to lovely Whacko Waco Texas. I had the first appointment of the day for a consultation with a sleep specialist. Can you imagine? Specializing in sleep? I wonder what jobs like that pay because hello? I specialize in eating.

After filling out the multi-page medical history stuff, that I strongly objected to since they can get that from any number of departments within their organization. It seems redundant to me when they can make copies so everyone knows when I had hemorrhoid surgery my tonsils out.

It was determined that I should undergo a sleep study. Report at seven in the evening, after dinner, because they don't feed you, get wired, then try to sleep all night while being monitored. I hate the idea of people watching me sleep and snore, if in fact I really do, on a 42 inch Sony HDTV. I return in August for this event.

On my drive home, I have a few landmarks that I use to determine whether or not I'm making good time. Does anyone else do that? Like when you pass Jack-in-the-Box, do you look to see if it took you twelve minutes like last time? No? I try to reach this same landmark at the 20 minute point.
It's the water tower that beckons drivers to Dog Ridge, TX. Some day I will get off the highway and drive around because I'm really curious about what is there.

Then I stop at this place to pick up some groceries. Other than this place, the only other option is Wally World.
My grandkids told me H.E.B. stands for Her Enormous Butt. I wonder.

I made it home in time to go for a quick swim then go out to lunch with a friend...to the newly opened Golden Corral. Oh yum. Can life get any more exciting?
