HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME....almost

On March 16th, I put my very first blog entry on the Internet. Up until then, I was happy being a commenter on other blogs. A few people kept bugging me....saying things like, "hey get your own blog", and "quit hogging everyone's bandwidth with your silly off topic comments". So I eventually got the hint and jumped in.....

Remember when I looked like this?

Four of those blogs were my commenters that first day in the history of Grandma J.
Heartshapedhedges, is my daughter and her blog sprung forth from her son's Caringbridge site (yeah leukemia survivor!). LMNOP, is another blogger crossover from Caringbridge, (whose daughter is also a leukemia survivor). Then The Cortney Chronicles is a follower of HSH and LMNOP, and My Training Adventures, a wonderful marathon fundraising woman who I met through her support of several Caringbridge sites.

So there you have it...my first four commenters. The amazing thing is, after reading that pitiful first post, all four still come back a year later. So thank you....to those first four, and the other two rest of you who check in on a regular basis to see if I'd been committed kicked the bucket, or to be more politically correct, dove into the deep end.

Over the last year, I have posted 380 entries, with 64,879 visitors. Ok, I know, there was that day back in July when I have over 15,000 hits! All because
Michael K from dlisted put a link to my Shamwow testimonial on his site. Just because of that I'm now engaged to best buds with Nick, who lives somewhere in the Heart of Dixie in Charleston....with his new puppy. I've also become good friends with Hollywood, who really lives in Albuquerque. Ummm, where's that blog of yours Hollywood?

Now, here's the exciting part that includes all of
you. Yes even you, and you too. Over the past year, I've reviewed several movies, given testimonials on a plethora of products. God, thank you for the word plethora, I love it more than you know.

I've keep you abreast of current events...like the Yearning For Zion dilemma here in Texas, and the tragic toilet malfunction on NASA's space station. I've talked about my grandchildren and JJ til I'm blue in the face....with much more to tell you! You know all about my Uncle Jack, and the escapades of my Mother, Rita. I've discussed personal stuff like my sex life colon, pinkie finger, and mustache.

Several times over this past year I have honored our Service Men and Women...specifically my son-in-law, 1SGT John, who is currently serving his third tour of duty in Iraq.

I took a road trip to visit
Cortney and Briana here in Texas, and I met up with Jason, Pumpkin Delight, and Hula Hank in Los Angeles. I'm trekking to Virginia in July to partake in the Virginia Blogfest hosted by Big Hair Envy, and Chesapeake Bay Woman.

With all of this in mind, I want you to tell me which post you liked the best. I know, they all kind of blur together. But seriously, I have to know....so take a minute to jog your memory or look in the archives. I'll make it worth your while with a contest/drawing.

That's right, a $50 gift card from Bed Bath and Beyond. the winner will be picked by a random picker thing on March 16th....the anniversary of the day everyone's Grandma J's world changed....forever.

Well, it's so hard to decide....the ones with my kids are my favorite, because, Im biased. I also love the ones with my siblings, nieces, nephews, etc. along with Grandma Rita, Jack and posse.

But if I were to avoid any cries of nepotism, I would have to say my FAVORITE, was....one of your firsts, your PORCH SAGA. Maybe because I can imagine you getting all bent out of shape over the situation (I would have too!) But that was funny.

BTW, Pooper keeps checking for comments on his blog ....I gently let him know, that Grandma J is the only one that even knows it exists, he is going to have to start advertising his great Pokemon services if he expects to get some more feedback.

I'm so glad you listened to our pleadings and started your blog. My ALL-TIME favorite post is "I Want You To Meet My Peeps because they are very special," the day you made me into a PEEP. I felt very loved!

Man! I want to win! I'll buy a Snuggie if I win! :)

There is no way I could choose just one, BUT, the Philip Johnny Bob saga continues to be my favorite! OR, anything that has to do with JJ:) OR, the grandkids.....

First off, I can't even remember yesterday let alone my favorite post. I have to say though, I love your JJ posts. I love dogs and he is so human like, just want to take him and hug him to death. I think him and Rosie would get along nicely.

I'd have to say, since I am a relative newcomer, that I enjoyed the hair removal one the best.

I'm so glad I found you, because you give me great laughs!

Happy BlogBirthday (almost) I am having a hard time thinking of what to get you....a mouse? a keyboard? Some hand sanitizer? the possibilities are endless. :)
I love all the Baron stories ...this is a guy I could picture in MY family too.
One of my faves is: http://askgrandmaj.blogspot.com/2008/09/baron-part-three.html
remember, you prepared the priest for the Baron's confession, then the Baron did not make it in to meet the priest...some innocent guy did instead.
Really, ALL your posts make me laugh. I look forward to seeing what is going on in that head of yours each day.
And I treasure each and every funny comment you leave. You are a ONE of A Kind lady!!!!
(you did know that BB & B is haunted right? well, in my dreams it is)

To answer your question - we do NOT have an electric toilet. However, we DO have a well pump which is powered by electricity. In order for the toilet tank to re-fill after flushing, the well pump must engage. Thus, the need for electricity in order to flush! Aren't you glad you asked?? Heehee!

I'm a new reader so I am not qualified to pick a favorite quite yet.

That's a great prize for some lucky reader! I hope BB&B will still be around by then and not go the way of Circuit City!

Oh, this might take a while - do I have more than 24 hours? If I don't and were forced to choose I'd pick one about Rita, maybe the one where she drove off with the nozzle still in the gas tank. But then again there are several with Philip johnny bob that are classic. Last but not least, half the time when you go to the doctor there's another winner of a story.

I"ll need to go back and check. Can't do that probably until tomorrow based on the schedule here tonight, but rest assured I can come up with one. Even if I come in late, I will still tell you my favorite one.

HAPPY BLOG B-DAY/ANNIVERSARY!

I love posts about your son-in-law in the service and serving our great country. An amazing man & supportive family. Happy Blogging Birthday Grandma J!

...favorite? Well, the ones that make me laugh...but then again, that would be almost every day...so I will have to go with 2...the one about Rita hitting the bus and feigning a heart attack and misrepresenting herself as her sister...or the one of her slipping naked on the patio and hurting her back...cuz that is something I would probably be caught doing!

Happy Bloggy B-day! That early Grandma J header has come a long way from Printshop!

My favorite post was when you stayed overnight at the hospital all wired up for snoring. That picture was great.

My favorite post? You have to be kidding me. I mean, they are all, SO wonderful. SO amazing. So outstanding! I think my most favorite of all was the time you went to the post office and took a picture. That was hilarious. Or maybe I liked the one where you had a sleepover at the sleeping clinic. It's hard to decide. I am going to have to peruse the archives to see if any others were my favorites. I always love seeing the grandkids. They are SO beautiful. I am glad you are my blogging friend. I hold you near and dear to my heart! Love, Becky

First and foremost, my favorite moment was when we met, and when we met Hula Hank.

My second favorite moment was when you took a whole quart of urine to the doctor's office. That was awesome.

Do I win?

Wow another mention.....:) I just clicked on this for the first time today. Yea for Michael K! haha I don't carry a camera with me (even though I have one on my phone) to take pictures. I think I might make a bad blogger..I like the posts about the grandkids, JJ & the neighbor at the compound.

Talk about an embarassment of riches, you have so many FABULOUS blog entries to your name that it is difficult to choose. Of course I love the posts about your kids and grandkids (and Pooper holds a special place in my heart and prayers). And I love the ones you used to do for Vintage Thursday (or something along those lines) -- I fell in love with your nativity scenes and other beautiful objects from Rita. But, I think your most memorable entry that still makes me laugh when I think about it was your description of your community college related Canadian ski trip. What a hoot!
