The Rita Chronicles
It's Mothers Day, and to celebrate with all of you, Grandma J wants to share her Mother's Day Post from Mothers Day 2009. The Rita Chronicles. Some of you probably remember some of the memories I've shared, but I'd like to reminisce because Mother's Day without Rita is like apple pie without ice cream, or lawns without sprinklers.
So, please take a few moments to walk down memory lane with me as I remember some of my fondest memories of Rita. And, please let me know which episode you liked the best....or not.
The Rita Chronicles here.
Happy Mothers Day to you, and you , and especially you!
XOXO Grandma J

But before you go spending money on expensive appliances, a woman has to know how to cook. That's why it's important that they have some lessons like Peggy did, about making stuff like real mayonaise.
Now if Mom is mature and ready for some thing
.....or a Mercury because women want a car strictly for beauty and comfort.
That's why car dealers are offering classes for women ....but nothing too technical.
Just be careful to take away those car keys and keep your distance if she's having one of her black days!
Now for a bit of mother humor from the past.....
Oh yeah, Mom looks like a party animal!!
The talk I'm glad my mother Rita never had with me. Seriously.....whose mother did?
And lastly.......
Grandma J thinks her suit is kind of cute, but do you know a man or boy who would wear one of these suits?
Happy Mother's Day to all the blogging moms!!
and if I borrowed one of your photos, thank you.

....evidently
When I woke up this morning, reality was hovering over me like....well, reality! I had been living a whirlwind, fairytale life for the last several weeks. Events swirled around me like the tornado that almost came close to my home.
Then there was Mother's Day when I was showered with gifts like "Forget-me-not" pajamas from Pooper, Beauty, and Little One, great book from my daughter in Colorado, Starbucks coffee, travel mug, brunch and a movie from my daughter and her family here in Texas, several theatre tickets from JJ and these from my son and his family.
Which shout, "Hello, it's time to say adios."
Then of course there was the time I spent offering support and tweezers comfort to these women, which, by the way, is ongoing. There were endless hours planning and organizing my Major Road Trip to see Cortney and Briana, leading up to the Major Road Trip Finale
So, with the air temporarily sucked out of my balloon, it's back to the daily nitty gritty of sleeping in and watching The View. Yesterday, I drove 56 miles round trip to the closest fabric store to me. And I bought this material to make two more soft furry blankies for the kids in the Pediatric Oncology ward. My nose is to the grindstone, which must really hurt, to get these done this week. After that I'm free to start planning my next junket to Las Vegas, BABY!! And I may need your help.

how it all got started or.........
Mom can I borrow your credit card? And your car?
No, that's what kids might say to Dad for Mother's Day. My children are all grown, with kids of their own. I miss getting the handmade gifts and the hand drawn cards. I miss the breakfast in bed with four little munchkins sitting up there with me, beaming as they explain which part of the smorgasbord they each made for me.
One year, when my kids were young, I got a really nice big American Greetings card that probably cost $5 with my gift. It was a huge card with flowers and glitter and all kinds of fancy extras. It was also a group card from all four kids. When I opened it, I saw that it was signed on the left hand side, below the pretty poetic verse, in large writing by my oldest daughter and my middle daughter. On the right hand side was a very detailed note explaining that their dad had given them money to get me a card, but my son and youngest daughter spent their money on candy instead. Below the note, way down in the corner, were my son and youngest daughters' initials. I still have that card!
Now, we really have these two women to thank for Mother's Day:
All I know is Anna Jarvis the mother, worked very hard to improve the health of the people in her community. She organized a Mother's Friendship
This year, I am celebrating Mother's Day with my middle daughter and her family. All three of my daughters are super moms with wonderful husbands and perfect children, of course. My son had the wisdom to marry a gal
